^I've never heard of Mike Linnig's as a place for seafood. The fried fish is certainly good, but seafood generally, you can get better elsewhere. Seafood anywhere not on a coast is going to be severly disappointing as far as I'm concerned, although Mitchell's Fish Market is a nice chain that popped up out on the East End a few years ago that I've liked every time.

 

Well they bill themselves as "Famous Seafood Since 1925." I got the fried fish sandwich, and the portion was huge, but other than that, it just wasn't impressive. My fiancee' got the crab cakes and we were both disappointed by those as well.

 

I agree with you that unless it's on/near a coast, it's not going to be great seafood, but there was a whole lot of hype about this place, plus they had a sign out front saying they were voted one of Louisville's best restaurants. After going, I don't see how.

Mojitos is owned by the same people as Havana Rumba so it should be ok. I actually haven't made it out to Mojitos yet but I hear it's good.

Since you know so much about the restaurant scene then you must know that Pat's owner Pat Francis owns both the lot and building the restaurant in on and it's paid for. Also you must know that his wife, 2 daughter's and a son work at the restaurant. These factors put Pat's in a a position that 99.9% of the other rstaurants are not in and that is high over head and labor. So I am not telling you anything new when I tell you that they are in a better position to survive a ression than just about restaurant in Louisville because you already knew this. You're welcome.

A little off topic, but I went to Mike Linnig's in Louisville, which is supposedly one of the best seafood places in the area and was severely disappointed. Yeah, the portion sizes were huge, but the wait and the food just didn't live up to the hype. You can get better seafood at Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack, IMO.

The KingFish just over the bridge on the Indiana side is good. Right on the river. 601 W Riverside Dr Jeffersonville, IN 47130. There's an Italian place by KingFish that's good too, but I can"t remember the name of it.

I've heard great things about Mojitos but I still haven't been. I love Jack Fry's as well.

Fish can be very hit or miss depending on the last shipment anywhere in a place like Louisville, I've had average fish there and amazing fish there. It comes with the territory.

I have been once and only had appetizers and drinks. I thought the food was pretty good.

In actuality it has more to do with how much money the owner wants to spend...my best customer understands that you always pay for the best fish, even if he has to raise his prices accordingly. That said, we are now in a mjor deflationary market and the premier product is readily available at a much more reduced price.....bet his competition doesn't end up making smart decisions with it.

I agree...it's apples and pianos, but both are sensational.
