July 14, 200917 yr The Fort Thomas Board of Education approved 6th grade boys and girls basketball for this year. Several of us on here have discussed this issue for years. It is finally a done deal. Many parents have lobbied the adminstration and athletic dept. over the years to no avail. Lets give the credit to the two individuals that pressed forward to make this happen. Tony Dougherty deserves much of the credit. He is an involved school parent that made contact with administration, coaches and the athletic dept. Tony answered the questions and the concerns that had been raised in the past. He deserves many thanks from those of us that wanted to see this happen. Keith Faust gets the assist. As a member of the middle school administration, Keith spends hours upon hours supporting our kids. He got on board and helped to make it happen. Thanks to Mike Flynn and Jamie Richey for supporting the cause. Now it is our turn as parents to support the kids and the school to make the program successful.
July 14, 200917 yr 6th grade programs are here; and I am certain that those of us that have boys and girls in this age group will certainly throw our support behind the programs immediately. I am glad that Keith Faust supported it from administration. I too must give a shout out to Tony Dougherty because I know he was very instrumental in this day coming and for those out on this site that thought this would not happen please remember that efforts of a few made it happen for the many. Thanks again Highlands coaches, Keith and Tony. Any idea on who might be coaching this group of boys and girls? We are very happy for the students and the middle school.
August 20, 200917 yr I heard that they may have found a coach for the 6th grade boys team and that they are still looking for a coach for the 6th grade girls team. It will be interesting to see how this team does in their first year of competition. I was also wondering if there was any more talk of getting a middle school booster organization up and running.
August 20, 200917 yr New info has HMS having a 6th, We'd all like to officially welcome HHS basketball to the 1960s.
