Going to Disney

Featured Replies

Glad to here you had a great time. The humidity is brutal in the south at this time of year. I've heard lunch with a princess is great. First thing we learned when living in Georiga, never go to the parks during tourist season. We traveled in November and had a great time.

We took out kids to Disney World once and I made sure they were all old enough to remember it. I remember a routine done by a comedian about taking his kids to Disney. It went something like this..."Took my kids to Disney, spent $10,000, stood in line for ten hours and rode 3 rides. I am not sure, but I think I got cheated on that one."....though he didnt use the word "cheated". That pretty much sums up my memory, though the kids enjoyed themselves.

Also, we went on National Gay/Lesbian weekend....not making any judgments, but it made for an interesting experience.

We talked about if we go back in a few years then we would lean toward going around Oct break..heard Thanksgiving time is a good time (not during the holiday though) or around the 3rd or so of July. We talked to some people that live there and have the season pass and they said that early July was good if it's not too cold. I would like to time it up when somebody I like is in the Citrus, Outback or maybe Orange Bowl then wait a couple of days for the New Years crowd to be gone to go back. Honestly the rides at Kings Island blow them away there but the character stuff was what was great for the kids. The 4th crowd and heat were borderline dangerous.

My first trip was the day after Memorial Day and we were there for 8 days. That was the best time to go, the weather was tolerable and the crowds were not bad at all. We did attend during the gay week, but honestly, I did not find it offensive or out of line at all.

I did hear about that Monorail. Very sad for the driver.

We went on June 29. We went to Hollywood Studios first (so my older two could ride the Aerosmith ride) and everyone could ride Tower of Terror. Then we headed to the MK and stayed until the park closed at 11 pm. It was a great day because it rained a couple of times, just briefly and just enough to get everyone wet and cooled off. It was not too bad hot at all. We got to ride pretty much everything and the longest we had to wait was about 40 mins for the Pooh ride, but that was fine because it raining and we were able to stay under a roof in line. My older ones were disappointed that Space Mountain is closed until November, but we all had a wonderful time regardless. We ate dinner at Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends and my almost 5 year old was out of her mind! She could hardly eat because she was so excited--it was so precious! Glad to know you had a good trip, too, stick.

Thank you all for the tips. We fast passed a lot all day and pretty much road everything. That was a GREAT call! The waterbottle fans were a great investment!

I've been to Silver Springs a couple of times; nice place. Been to Disney, Epcot, etc. usually in the middle of the summer, but once in early April; the temperature and the crowds were both very pleasant.
