Pittsburgh 2 Detroit 1 - Stanley Cup Finals Game 7

Featured Replies

Pittsburgh pulls the upset on the road, winning the only road game by either team in the series. Fleury played an absolute masterful game, allowing one goal on 23 shots. By contrast, Osgood gave up two goals on 16 shots. Talbot gets the only goals for Pittsburgh, Ericsson gets one for Detroit. Pittsburgh played the last period and a half without their captain Sidney Crosby.

Now the Pittsburgh Pirates just have to make a huge run for a Pittsburgh sweep with their pro teams... :D

BTW, nice choice Hossa.

Evgeni Malkin gets the Conn Symthe, which is very much deserved.

Wow, listen to those boos. :D I do wish this could have been in Pittsburgh.

I hate hockey, but that was exciting.

Sidney Crosby is the youngest captain to hoist the Stanley Cup.

I wonder, is it more satisfying to win at home, or to stick it to the opposing team on their home ice?

That was the type of game that makes me love hockey. It's a great sport, I know it's not for everyone, but I love it.

I've been pretty lucky lately with the success of the Celtics and Penguins... My favorite teams in basketball and hockey respectively.

Now if I can just get the Mets and Seahawks aboard, I'll be doing great!

Go Penguins!!! :dancingpa

I can no longer claim Pittsburgh as my #1 favorite team, as that belongs to Colorado, but I was always a Lemieux fan, and so I will always have a soft spot for Pittsburgh. They're probably #2 for me.

I'm right there with you with the Colorado being #1 for me. I'd say Nashville is my #2, being the local team, but the Pens are what i would say #2b.

Awesome game tonight. Really fun to watch, as it was truly the Stanley Cup Play-offs are about!

Ditto.

Nice choice Hossa!!!! I still remember seeing Hossa sit on the ice with his back to the boards watching Wings lift the cup. He then takes less money to play for Detroit. The look on Hossa's face after tonights game was priceless!!!

Feury was Awesome! I know the Pens would want to share the win with their fans back in Pittsburgh, but to rub it in the face to all Detroit like it was in Pittsburgh is great.

I am on a roll myself.

1. Won my first fantasy football championship. ( been playing since 95)

2. My Steelers win another Super Bowl!

3. My Heels won another NCAA championship.

4. Now my Penguins are Stanley Cup Champions!

I said there was nothing to worry about. Penguins take it home!

I had not realized at first, but Pittsburgh won every series on the road. They beat Philadelphia on the road in Game 6, won Game 7 at Washington, won Game 4 to sweep in Raleigh, and then won Game 7 in Detroit.

Pittsburgh won 4 of the last 5 games of the series after the disastrous 2-0 series start.

Pittsburgh is the first team to win the Stanley Cup in a Game 7 on the road since Montreal did so against Chicago in 1971, a series that mirrored this one with the home team winning the first six games. It is only the third time ever a team has won the Stanley Cup in Game 7 on the road.

It is the first time since 1979 that a team won a Game 7 on the road in the NHL, NBA, or MLB.
