June 16, 200917 yr Proves my earlier point. ^^^ Player took money from an Uncle who wanted the kid to sign with him. Kid told another player and gave the money back. Bama reported this and still got hit. Booster gave recruit's high school coaches cash, one coach got mad because the Booster gave more to the head Coach, turned in the Booster, who goes on probation? The latest Bama reports itself like we have already discussed. There are a lot of schools who have done more and gotten less. Just because Bama reported itself, does not the make the violation a non-violation. Had they not reported it themselves and the NCAA discovered it on it's own, which looks like it would be a good possiblility, the penalties could have been much worse.

June 16, 200917 yr All this happened after the Bear retired. He was there since 1959. No one likes it and you cannot sugar coat it. I wish it never happened, but it did and by turning ourselves in is better than getting caught. Most people say their are sorry, not because of what they have done, but because they got caught. When you have lemons make it better for yourself. The boosters were out of control, Bama is from the good ole boy network and its time to change. There are things thats happened but will never be known..."for those with out sin....." No school is safe we are humans and we are tempted everyday its how you respond to the evil temptation. Alabama is a state where there isn't a pro team/major Golf event its football. We don't even carry men's soccer at Bama. I'm not trying to justify whats gone on and I hated even hearing about Textbook gate 3 years ago, like all fans you just hope when the NCAAS come around its done fairly. I hate to see any school punished, but some deserve it. And we do too. We only hope there are no more problems. Check out a Bama site and you will see the frustration of the fans and the calling of the AD to resign.

June 23, 200917 yr ^^^if it makes you feel better you can have the vol win back then, game was played on the field. NCAA was easy on us due to the fact we turned ourselves in. 201 students were involved and 16 sports. We lose no scholarships and can play in bowls. Just have to watch things for the next three years...Everything Textbooks Pencils/paper/desks. Bass fishing team is OK. I agree, especially on the bolded AL and as for the Bass Fishing team.............I am so glad, if they would have had Bass fishing at schools when I was coming ouit of high school I could have gotten a 4 year ride/scholly to compete in Bass fishing :ohbrother:! Dang!..........and bass fishing was one reason why I didn't do so well in school, I was always fishing instead of studying and going to class. Who knew??:idunno: I was obviously way ahead of my time.

I believe that some of the NCAA rules are just flat out crazy, no wonder schools today have "NCAA compliance commities/departments", they have to just to keep up n all of them (rules). AL, you were talking about Bama being a state with no pro teams,etc. and football is king. Kentucky imo is identical only with basketball, when you get right down to it that is all that most "Really" cares about. All others are just something to pass the time untill basketball season. (yes, we do have soccer but I haven't persnally talked to anyone that likes it or cares about it, not even in our high schools. )
June 30, 200917 yr We are appealing this but we are not trying to get the three year probation reduced, we just want some of the wins put back and this is crazy. The wins were won on the field, big deal 3 years is too long for a probation.....we are going the wrong way here. If I go to a kid and offer something to him and someone turns me in I can get us a Death Penalty. Thats what happened the last time......
