May 29, 200917 yr Wonder who Machida will fight for the belt? My guess: Maricio Shogun Rua, even though he doesn't deserve a shot.
May 29, 200917 yr My guess: Maricio Shogun Rua, even though he doesn't deserve a shot. The Shogun I watched in PRIDE would be an interesting matchup with Machida. The Shogun I've seen in the UFC will get KO'd early I'd say. The PRIDE Shogun was one of the most aggressive fighters I've seen...I'd be curious to see that guy fight a guy like Machida who is very cautious.

The man with the .45 is a dead man. I'd love to see that matchup. What's wrong with Shogun, he didn't even look good in his fight with Glass Joe Liddel.
May 29, 200917 yr Dan Henderson? That might be an interesting fight for the 205 pound title. I thought about Dan Henderson. Is he and Bisping fighting at Light heavyweight or Middleweight?
May 29, 200917 yr Rampage. Rampage is coaching TUF. His next fight is Rashad Evans. Machida will likely face Shogun.
May 29, 200917 yr Dan Henderson? That might be an interesting fight for the 205 pound title. See my previous post about a top wrestler who is good in the clinch. A prime Dan Henderson beats Machida. Rumor is a Couture matchup is in the works..............

May 29, 200917 yr See my previous post about a top wrestler who is good in the clinch. A prime Dan Henderson beats Machida. Rumor is a Couture matchup is in the works.............. Couture vs. Hendo or Machida The guys on MMA Live have practically declared Machida unbeatable. I'm not quite ready to make that leap. He's a difficult matchup, for sure. Of his 15 wins, 8 have been decisions...5 KO's and 2 subs. He may be that good, but I need to see more...against more top line competition. I'm not expecting much competition from Shogun, because I've yet to be impressed with Shogun in UFC. But, if he can find the form that made him so great in PRIDE, it could be interesting. I was curious to see how Rampage fared against Machida. On the plus, Rampage can take a punch with the best, so he could possibly test Machida's chin by taking a shot or two so he could get in close enough to deliver one. On the downside, considering how Forrest worked him over from range with the leg kicks, I can only imagine how much he might struggle with Machida.
May 29, 200917 yr Yeah I just saw that after I posted. :thumb: I'm not the least bit excited about seeing Rampage face Rashad. Rashad Evans doesn't excite me. I know he's improved greatly and is a very good LHW, but there's nothing there that really draws me in. I think the 205 pound division is a little overhyped at this point. I'm having a hard time getting a read on how good it is...who are the HOF caliber fighters? Are there any? Or is it just a group of good fighters who are all capable of beating each other depending on the day? Chuck - Washed up. Randy - Heavyweight Hendo - Is he 185 or 205? Franklin - Just moved up, and lost to Hendo. How good is he at 205? Shogun - Unimpressive. His draw is based exclusively on the PRIDE form he hasn't come close to showing in UFC. Wanderlei - Still entertaining, and still pretty good, but not top notch these days. Jardine - Who knows with this guy? Forrest - Not sure how good he is. Rashad - Not sure how good he is, either. Machida - Looks like the best at this point, but he's got a little work to do. Who am I forgetting? Shogun, Jardine, Rampage and Rashad all got big boosts from beating Chuck Liddell. But, how much is that really worth considering what we know now about Liddell? How impressive is that win at this point? I suppose I'm just wondering if the 205 pound class hasn't been a little overhyped based on name recognition that hasn't always lived up to its billing... The 185 pound division gets called weak because Anderson Silva blasted through it, but take him out of the picture and you probably get a more competitive division that gets overhyped because of that. I'd just like to see a guy at 205 successfully defend his title. I need some order restored. Seriously, how on earth do you rate the top 10 LHW's in the UFC?
May 29, 200917 yr Looks like Shogun is the next guy up for Machida. He doesnt really deserve it but with all the other things going on in the 205 division who else do you really give it too? Randy would be cool but Im more excited to see him fight Nog at UFC 102. Not really sure how you go about beating Machida but one thing I think this last fight showed is you dont do it by sitting back and being patient. I think you have to attack him.
May 29, 200917 yr This is what tears me about the UFC, its a business and I know that, but this stuff about keeping fighters on the shelf for TUF........its ridiculous...... Shogun of 3 years ago beats Machida, Shogun of now gets worked.
May 30, 200917 yr I agree on the TUF thing. I think they should just do the show and forget about putting some of their best fighters on the shelf for so long as coaches. I think it's hurt the UFC as far as making matches and keeping some good flow to the way things progress in weight classes.
