Clyde Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Did the two "injured" studs pitch? Yes. Bad first inning - lots of pitches and 4 runs - for Smith. Bad 7th inning for Roenker. Smith had to throw over 120 pitches. Seems like too many for a high school kid.

Theoldguy Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Smith actually threw 143 I believe. Trust me AirYard, it was 124 pitches... 1st 41 2nd 09 3rd 16 4th 16 5th 10 6th 15 7th 17
Theoldguy Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Strange how walks and HBP come back to haunt you. Of the 2 HBP's and 3 walks Roenker gave up today, two came back to bite him. Of the four runs Smith gave up 3 reached base via base on balls, all in the first innings. BTW I left off Roenker stats the 2 hbp he gave up.
bluegrass09 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Although he started off slow.... In the Chuck we trust!:ylsuper:
bluegrass09 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 The play of the game would have to be Roenker's balk. Showed Beechwood they had some hope. Brought the game within one and the Tigers capitalized on that little piece of momentum in the 7th.

Especially when you consider the "what in the heck was he doing calling a squeeze with 2 strikes" play that resulted in an out right before that.
Theoldguy Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Especially when you consider the "what in the heck was he doing calling a squeeze with 2 strikes" play that resulted in an out right before that. Coach Myerhoff said it best after the game, "sometimes you just get lucky!"
Clyde Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Although he started off slow.... In the Chuck we trust!:ylsuper: The first inning was really bad. However, he was dominant the next 6.
NKU20 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 It's a crazy playoff system when 2 of the top teams have to play each other in the first round. Wouldn't it be better to just have one big regional tournament and seed it. Sorry, Congrats to both teams, Holy Cross had a great year.
tdyballgame Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Looks like Ritter had his usual stellar game. Congrats Paul on a great Senior year. Too bad it had to end this way. You and your Dad have one thing left to do and that's after you know who looses in the Regional. :sssh: Congrats again!!!
