From the stretch. Briefly stopped while bringing his hands together. Right call.

Especially when you consider the "what in the heck was he doing calling a squeeze with 2 strikes" play that resulted in an out right before that.

 

Krumps tried it twice against Beechwood. I think it was a gutsy call. Had the batter been able to get the ball down fair, it would've scored two runs.

So what was the play by play in the bottom of the 7th? How did Beechwood score their two runs?

 

I'm not 100% sure upon exactly what happened but this is what I recall. Brilz hits a bloop single over 2nd baseman's head. Michael Colosimo has a FC. CJ Bertke walked and pinch ran for. Josh Bertke got HBP and pinch ran for. Bases loaded one out. Chas Hyde goes down either 1-2 or 0-2 in the count. Battles through to create a walk. One run scores. HC pulls Roeneker and puts in a lefty(not sure of his name). Then Snyder hits a 1-1 curveball up the middle right past the pitcher. Tigers score one, and win.

Big hit by Snyder - He's had a nice season. Way to go Beechwood and good luck against the Colonels. Win or lose, congratulations on making the regional tournament.

Strange how walks and HBP come back to haunt you. Of the 2 HBP's and 3 walks Roenker gave up today, two came back to bite him. Of the four runs Smith gave up 3 reached base via base on balls, all in the first innings.

 

BTW I left off Roenker stats the 2 hbp he gave up.

 

He hit three batters: Snyder twice and Bertke once.
