That's what I've been saying. Denver is good enough to beat them on their own home court even if LA comes to play. If the Lakers let up in game 2 after a win and bring it in game 3 and lose where are they? They're in a seemingly must win game 4 on the road in a hostile environment. Unless of course the arena isn't available.

I have no doubt that if the Lakers come out motivated and play hard 6 games in this series that they'll win 4 of them. I'm aware that Denver is the best team they've played, and that they're good enough to beat LA on any given night. My point is that giving three away leaves you no room for error. That can't happen against a team like Denver. But, the Lakers can win in Denver. I'm confident of that.

They just better not think that if they bring it for 4 games that they will win all 4. It's a bad mindset to have right now. If they take a night off they get beat. If they play as hard as they can they still might get beat. That wasn't the case last series.

The test to me is game 2 no matter tonights result. If the Lakers roll do they lose focus? If they get beat tonight are they good enough to focus the rest of the series starting in a game 2 must win?

I do expect them to come out focused tonight. In fact, I expect them to be focused for the first two at home. I'm curious to see how they respond on the road with a 2-0 series lead...or how they respond in Game 4 if it's 2-1.

I think the 1st quarter will set the tone, especially if it's a rugged type of quarter. If one team is hot that is a wash, because it is unlikely to be on fire for an entire series as a team either way. I'm curious to see the PG matchup and the battle in the paint. That will tell the story.

May 20, 200917 yr Their glaring weakness is apathy. How do you judge a team that went seven games against an undermanned team because they, for whatever reason, didn't feel like playing in three of the games? They won the other four games relatively easy. How do you predict a series they're in? You know they're the better team when they play, but you're not sure when they will and will not play. If you're just looking at the Lakers beating an undermanned Houston team 4-3 and saying they aren't as good as advertised, you're making a mistake, IMO. But, if you look at what happened in that series and make the guess that LA is going to give the same off-and-on efforts vs. Denver, then I can buy that. Simply put, I think LA was bored with the Houston series, especially with Yao out. The Lakers need to feel challenged/pushed, and the Rockets minus T-Mac and Yao couldn't do that, so LA kept no-showing and forcing themselves into must win situations...and they responded with great games every time. A self-generated challenge in some ways. I don't expect the lackadaisical performances vs. Denver that we saw against Houston. I think the Lakers will feel "challenged" from the get go in this series. LA's biggest weakness on the court is their unwillingness to be physical inside. I don't think Denver has the make-up to exploit that to a degree that will handicap the Lakers. Just my guess... Because Heaven forbid the Lakers actually have some actual basketball problems instead of chemistry problems. It just kills me how whenever they play well/win they are awesome, the best team in the NBA, no one can stop them and the team they played isn't that good. But when they lose, the team they play is great, their front court is weak and point guard play is pitiful, and everyone other than Kobe needs to show up. It can't be both ways, the Nuggets get no credit on here, and since people like to point out that the Lakers won 65 games, the Nuggets won 54, it's not like they are the 8th seed or anything. May 20, 200917 yr Author JR Smith is the epitome of hot and cold. He can play you in the game, or he can play you out. Kind of like Pau Gasol in the playoffs......... They must be related. On another note, Melo is in the game, yet JR Smith won't quit making mistakes.......
