Lacrosse in KY

Covington Catholic is the only school in NKY that I know of that has a team. They seem to play Cincinnati, Louisville, and Lexington teams.

 

Newport has a lacrosse club, but not an actual team. They mainly play scrimmages among themselves.

Northern Kentucky has a metro team named the Warriors.

 

This past weekend the Lexington city championship was played. Northern Kentucky played Sayer in the championship game.

Doesn't there have to be at least 15% of the schools participating for the KHSAA to adopt a sport? It seems like I've seen that percentage before. With 23 teams playing out of 275 schools, you have about 9% participation.

I know bowling is a big "club" sport right now that may be KHSAA sanctioned in the near future too. Not sure what the participation percentage is, but apparently it's very close to the required amount.

St.X won the state title last night @ Trinity winning 10-9.

Collegiate definitely came on strong at the end of the year and it looks like they gave the No. 1 team in the state all they could handle. Congrats to the Tigers.
