Well folks, my family and I purchased a house today...

I'm actually in the process of house shopping right now as well. It's a buyers market and with the tax credit, and low interest rates, there's never been a better time to buy if you can afford it

We are buying a house in Danville :thumb:

We have been renting here for about two years and just taking out time, but it's time to move on to something solid. We have sketchy neighbors right now - one was tased by the police a few weeks ago, one is in jail right now, one got beat up by 4 guys in a racially motivated beated... etc. etc.

I'm moving my family to safety and a nice house :thumb:

Good for you guys. Danville is a really nice place, even though it does have rough spots like you mentioned (what town doesn't). I thought you might be putting down roots in Crab Orchard after your trip through a couple weeks ago, but then I remembered that you sort of blacked out while driving (and listening to Calipari)!

I am hoping to get my credit straightened up this year and buy a house next spring.

We didn't want to push the population over 150.:ylsuper:

It's doable! I raised my score 80 points in a year. I am getting a 4.75% interest rate.

Congrats man! You aren't going to find a much better time to buy then right now!

Get this:

- we offered a fairly low "feeler" offer

- they countered with a decent price, but we thought we'd try once more

- I countered and not only did they accept, they actually went down $1,000 off my offer :ohbrother: I was ecstatic!

Man, I hope so. Due to two "D's" and other things, it is going to take some work. I am glad to hear that you have done well, though.
