Wireman Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Well folks, my family and I purchased a house today... We close on June 24th (if everything checks out on the inspections, etc.):dancingpa
Musketeer_alum97 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Congratulations!!! Be sure to add your story into my "I Hate Moving" thread.
Wireman Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 I've moved twice in the past year, so I'm not really all that excited!!!
gold sunrise Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Congrats Wireman. This is a huge purchase, but an investment in your future.
00Rocket28 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I'm actually in the process of house shopping right now as well. It's a buyers market and with the tax credit, and low interest rates, there's never been a better time to buy if you can afford it
gchs_uk9 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Wireman, are you guys staying in central Kentucky? We'd hate to see you leave!
Wireman Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 We are buying a house in Danville :thumb: We have been renting here for about two years and just taking out time, but it's time to move on to something solid. We have sketchy neighbors right now - one was tased by the police a few weeks ago, one is in jail right now, one got beat up by 4 guys in a racially motivated beated... etc. etc. I'm moving my family to safety and a nice house :thumb:

Danville is a really nice place, even though it does have rough spots like you mentioned (what town doesn't). I thought you might be putting down roots in Crab Orchard after your trip through a couple weeks ago, but then I remembered that you sort of blacked out while driving (and listening to Calipari)!

Wireman Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 I am hoping to get my credit straightened up this year and buy a house next spring. It's doable! I raised my score 80 points in a year. I am getting a 4.75% interest rate.
stick1 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Congrats man! You aren't going to find a much better time to buy then right now!
Wireman Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Congrats man! You aren't going to find a much better time to buy then right now! Get this: - we offered a fairly low "feeler" offer - they countered with a decent price, but we thought we'd try once more - I countered and not only did they accept, they actually went down $1,000 off my offer :ohbrother: I was ecstatic!
Musketeer_alum97 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 It's doable! I raised my score 80 points in a year. I am getting a 4.75% interest rate. Man, I hope so. Due to two "D's" and other things, it is going to take some work. I am glad to hear that you have done well, though.
