April 28, 200917 yr The Bengals announced today that Kyle Larson and off-season accquisition Ryan Plackmeier had been released since they drafted Huber.
April 28, 200917 yr Author Why draft a punter? Two main reasons, one, he was an all-american and very good punter, and two, he is a 4th or 5th round draft choice and Mike Brown won't have to pay him as much as a 5th year man. I would have waited till camp started before I cut my veterans to see if the rookie was going to work out though.

I don't either, but you don't cut two players before camp,IMO, before you see if Huber works out, gets hurt or whatever else. Just keep them around for insurance and if they are not needed, cut them during training camp.

I don't care if Huber is the second coming of Ray Guy, there is no harm in keeping some competition around in case something unforeseen occurs.

Huber will probably be around for many years, and doing it this soon gives Larson a chance to hook up with another Team before camps open.

A) He can't be that much better than other available, undrafted punters to warrant wasting draft $$$$ on him. B) It's really sad when you punt so much that getting a punter is a necessity.
