Bishop Brossart 2009/2010

Well Brossart did this in the past in the boys program (assistant coach from Carroll Co) and it went ok. Hopefully this does as well.

Tough hire for this program. The parochials aren't able to pay much and unless you have a teaching position for a coach (also paying much less than a comparable public position) what is the incentive to attract a "blockbuster" applicant?

St. Henry recently went the grade school coach route because of a lack of applicants. The Cru had a terrific year and they may have gotten a pretty good coach without any HS experience.

Maybe Brossart will have similar success with this hire, but to expect a Big Time hire is not being realistic.

This is exactly my point. I think they were wanting a big hire, but they may have been waiting on an answer and it did not work out. I will disagree in saying that they can not get a big fish. Tom Cramer had a pretty good resume and had some success with the Mustangs, so to say that they could not have got a high profile coach may not be accurate.

I would think if they were looking to go the route of an non head coach than this hire would have happened months ago.

True Tom Cramer had a great resume but he was retired from public schools and drawing his pension. The fact is if you look at the hiring pattern since him on the boys side all three were assistant coaches: Carroll Co, Highlands, Brossart...........

Now as far as a other candidates are concerned 242 you have been pretty cryptic with a lot of responses and posts. Not sure if you really knew something or not but I tend to agree that this may have have a third or fourth guy down the totem pole so to speak. Wish you would be more open about who was being considered and who was considering instead of all the riddles and capital letters.

Mike Flynn expressed a lot of interest until he got the Highlands job.

Not all things are a secret in the 10th. It seems that the info may have been coming from others as you can see by some of the other posts I just chose to pass it on, next time I will have them PM you:lol:

As for the previous hirings on the boys side, 2 of the 3 were of Highlands assistants which I would consider some pretty good background and each of those guys have taken the school and program to new levels. As for the Carroll Co assistant, don't know too much about him.

Wow! Sure thought they'd get someone with more experience. He was the Grant Co. Freshman boys coach for a year or two (not this past year) with very little success. Not sure how the administration came to this decision.

Okay I will defend this decision with this statement. 1992 Tom Cramer (sp) leaves Brossart. Brossart admininstration takes forever to higher a replacement. Went after some big names (Mike Ford, Mike Listerman, and others).

End up with a frosh coach from Carroll County as the head boys coach who ends up winning a ton of games winning the first ever distict title, getting the first ever win in school history over Campbell County, and becoming at the time the all time winningest coach. So I think giving him a chance should be priority one. This program can NOT afford another set back.

Thought the private schools had ALL the advantages?? :D

That is 100% correct. I think his travel is really going to wear on him after a while................Good Luck Coach!

He can just head down to Walton and ride over with Coach Code? :D

Seriously I agree with your statements regarding the financial disadvantages for most privates. I'd heard they were in serious discussions with a current central KY head coach, but couldn't put together the proper $$'s package. Hopefully this works out because as another poster stated "This program (BB girl's hoops) can't afford another mistake".

Challenging times for the parochials with tuition rising and the economy tanking; the free publics are an attractive (or maybe the only realistic) option? Next couple of years will be interesting, as their feeders are loaded with talent at the middle school level; but can an unproven coach convince them to "stay home" or will they head to the County or down to the Hill to play for coach Dawn??

Great statement. It will be very important with whom he builds his staff with. Without being from the area, I would think it would be critical to add people from the area to his staff to keep those kids that should stay at Brossart, but are giving thought to NCC.

I know its early, but any word on his potential staff??

I've heard of someone named Schultz and someone named Bray. Would it not be appropriate to ensure a female assistant?
