April 22, 200917 yr Anybody else like me and can't wait for Sat to roll around? Let's here who you think the #1 pick will be. Word today is Sanchez has skyrocketed overnight and will be taken in the 2nd spot. I thought he would go to Sea. I think Stafford gets picked 1st even though I don't like it. I would go LT or LBer.
April 22, 200917 yr To be honest I think it is the most over hyped event in all of sports. How? It's a very exciting day IMO. I sit and watch it all day long. Not only are the draft picks exciting, but the trades are exciting as well. It's very fun to watch it all play out, especially when your favorite team drafts well.
April 22, 200917 yr I usually do a mock draft, but I doubt I'll do one this year. Haven't kept up with it enough to make one.

I will watch when the Bengals pick and check some of the updates but after the first 2 rounds (which take forever) it's a lot of guys the casual college fan doesn't know much about.

Normally we get a BGP's draft going and each poster gets to make the next selection. Can't believe were not doing it this year. (how long will it take for a new thread to get started I wonder. :sssh: )
April 22, 200917 yr To be honest I think it is the most over hyped event in all of sports. I have to agree, and changing the time to mid afternoon is not good imo. When it was at 11:00 I would watch a little more.
April 22, 200917 yr But anyway to go along with the thread I think the Lions take Michael Crabtree with the first pick.........Oooooops I forgot they got rid of Matt Milen. So maybe they'll do the smart thing and draft a franchise QB. I don't think Stafford is going to be a superstar or anything but I do believe he will be a descent career long starter. Hopefully they'll do the even smarter thing and sure up their O-Line. But Milen or no Milen they are still the Lions. Just think of all the top tens who have busted in the past decade since being drafted by the Lions. Hopefully they get it halfway right to finish off the decade.

That's hilarious! When I 1st started reading I though Crabtree...really. Millen what a gem. I think drafting the QB is a bad move because I don't think he's a star and they have no blocking in front of him. I think the teams that go build a team 1st then insert a QB set themselves up to win. See D. Carr, Alex Smith etc. With that said I think they will take Stafford too.

Yeah sadly thats more than likely what they will do. Tons of good OT's in this draft especially at the top. I would take one and maybe draft a Freeman (Kansas St.) or Nate Davis (Ball State) later on in the draft. Even if Stafford is the guy there is talk that Daunte is going to be the man from day one this season, so why not strengthen the o-line, then wait untill next years draft that will be loaded with stud QB's if your reall looking for that upper echelon guy. In that situation I don't know if Stafford can be the guy they need, its tough for a young QB to live up to that and you gave some good examples. Again they more than likely are going to take Stafford, but at least thats better than a wide reciever I guess. Imagine if they would have used the top ten picks they used for Mike Williams (USC) and Charles Rogers (Mich St.)on somebody else other than a couple of busts. So with that said, I guess you cannot hound them too hard for going QB, I mean like said it could be another WR.
April 22, 200917 yr Author I've got a really good friend that coaches in the NFL and he thinks Freeman will be the best of the group. They like Davis but he has some learning problems.
April 22, 200917 yr If i'm the Lions I take a tackle first, and build from there. Like a lot of the other posters, I don't feel that their is a franchise quarterback in the draft. I also wouldn't mind trading down if I am the Lions.
April 22, 200917 yr To be honest I think it is the most over hyped event in all of sports. Couldn't agree more. I watch about the first ten picks or so, and then I just check back to see who the Steelers pick up. One of my buddies watches the ENTIRE draft, every year. :ohbrother:
April 22, 200917 yr I did this one year. Me and my buddies had a HUGE draft party...Needless to say, after about the 7th hour, it starts to lose steam!
April 23, 200917 yr I look forward to the draft. Ever since the Bengals took DE Jason Buck from BYU with the 17th pick out of BYU, I have always watched it from the first pick to the last pick.
