April 18, 200917 yr Anybody going out to their favorite independent record store today? Lots of places have special, limited-edition releases available on CD and vinyl today, and many places also are running other sales. In addition, many places have live music in conjunction with the event. I just got back from CD Central in Lex (AA will be getting home shortly as well, I'm sure). I picked up a couple of new things, and I wanted many others: "Celebracion De La Ciudad Natal" by My Morning Jacket (2x10" vinyl with live cuts from their ear X-tacy and Waterfront Park performances from last year) "Hold On Hope" by Guided By Voices (12" EP) "San Antone/The Great Divide" by Whiskeytown (7") Plus, they threw in several other freebie records and other swag in the bag with it. I'm going up to my brother's place later on, so I think I may swing by ear X-tacy just to see if they have any other stuff I might want that CD Central didn't have. In particular, a vinyl copy of a Neil Young concert from the late '60s. Check it out if you get a chance. :thumb: Record Store Day

They might be confused. :lol: Actually the neat thing is...Today while at CD Central Most of the people shopping the Vinyl were young Pups...One of the kids that happened to be there is a friend of my son who is a Junior in high school... The strange thing that I have noticed... the Younger people are more into the vinyl than most older people... The cool thing about Independent record Stores like CD central is they sell new release's on vinyl...You can't get that at Walmart or most chain music stores...For instance The band U2 just put out a new Cd not long ago...They also released it on vinyl...The only places I have seen it is on ebay or CD Central...Another cool thing is most artist are including a copy of the Cd or a MP3 download with the album... It's really cool opening up a brand new album...The smell alone takes me back to when I was Twelve...:thumb:

April 19, 200917 yr My sister has most of my Vinyl now. I DID keep all of the Grand Funk Railroad and ELP albums along with my copies of James Gang Live and Michael Nesmith's Magnetic South. She has the rest. Jim and Admiral,I can tell you had a ball yesterday.Congratulations. And Enjoy!

April 19, 201412 yr The good old days - carting my records from Baltimore to Morehead and back as a college student in those plastic milk crates. Took up way more room than my clothes.
