Just got off the phone with a JCPS head coach & passing leagues are OK this summer. The new rule goes into effect July 1, 2009!

Are you sure? The Listserver has been full of emails that have said repeatedly that it is in effect this year, and I know of no school that is having any 7 and 7 this June. I think even the colleges have changed the dates for their 7 on 7 tournaments.

This is somewhat important - let's get it correct boys. Why don't one of you heavy hitters call Julian directly.

It is now the listserve now and Male, UK and UL have scheduled there dates. This is good for football.

I have it with high authority (the highest actually) that due to delay of the General Assembly to review and approve various rule changes, interschool 7 on 7s are permitted this June. So at least for this summer, the rule is the same as last year.

 

IF the General Assembly approves the rule change involving interschool 7s in June, it will not be effective until June of next year.

It doesn't apply to the 2009 season.

It will go in effect in 2010

Hopefully one of the coaches will put the effort into writing a proposal to rescind the June/July rule (so it doesn't go into effect in 2010) instead of standing on the sideline and complaining.

Please. I hope so, I think this snuck up on a lot of coaches, I hope all of those stand and speak out before next year.
