What does Mayfield need to do to improve in 2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

This year's Mayfield team will blend some older veterans such as Tyrese Murrell, Xavier Shelton, and Luke Guhy along with some very talented newcomers coming into the mix this year. If some of the newcomers can fill some holes then this years Mayfield team could be a challenger to get back to the Final Four. Mayfield will once again this year be challenged by a very good Crittenden County team for the district and regional title with the winner a chance to face off with Beechwood for a chance to go to Bowling Green. Hopefully this year's team will have a little better chemistry and keep the on-field and off-field problems away in 2009.

Bottom line ... the coaching staff has to get a handle on the discipline issues that plagued this team last year. If they do, Mayfield could make a pretty good postseason run.

I would suspect young Jonathan Jackson to see the field quite a bit for the Cards. Bright future for that young man on the gridiron!

The Jackson kid has a tremendous upside. He is projected to be one of Mayfield's alltime bests by the time he graduates. Like Westsider said ,the coaching staff needs to get a handle on this bunch or it's going to be deja vu.

Yeah, the discipline is key, I hope that the riff-raff is gone and things are back to business as usual in Mayfield. I look for Tyrese Murrell to have an outstanding year if he can get some good blocking, which could come from the incoming class of kids as well as X. Shelton, time will tell. I look for Jantzen Jones to have an outstanding senior year on the line. Luke Guhy should have an outstanding year, I believe he threw for around 2000 or more yards if I am not mistaken, so the talent is there. If Mayfield can play fundamental football, a deep run is very possible.

 

Does anybody know if DeCole Noonan (aka "Rump") is going to be playing this year? He would have made a huge difference last year.
