I got away from Country some because I like the old stuff a lot better but I really like Sugarland. I thought the girl that sings for them did good too. I have seen Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw/Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, The Judds+ Ricky Skaggs in concert. I missed out on Alabama and still regret it! Love them!

I enjoy Taylor Swift's music, and think it's fun. But her voice is not very good at all and she isn't that cute. So sometimes it IS kind of laughable how idolized she is. Carrie Underwood on the other hand is the TOTAL package.

 

Blasphemy! She may not always perform her best live (although I have seen some amazing live performances from her in person) but how can you say she isn't that cute? She has that natural beauty that many celebrities don't have. A lot of celebrities wouldn't be given a second glance if they hadn't met with their professional make up artists that morning. It's not fair to compare her to Carrie Underwood in the looks department seeing as Carrie Underwood is about 8 years older than Taylor.

I know what you mean there doc. Some of these winners/songs remind me of the song "Murder On Music Row" , this was a duet with George Straight and Alan Jackson that attacked all the "so called" country taking over Nashville and people/artist like George Jones, Merle Haggard and others not being played on radio and pushed aside. This is a great song, especially for any fans of "real" country music.

I agree and that is why I posted my comment earlier about the song of the year. I remember when country music sounded different than "pop" music. Bring back the rhinestone suites and the cowboy boots and the twang.........oh yeah...............

According to most, country music should include either a steel guitar or fiddle. A great country song will include both.

 

I think most people complain that contemporary country music has too much electric guitar and too much percussion. Don't get me wrong, I'd still much rather listen to today's country vs grunge rock or current R & B. I just miss the more traditional tunes.

"Artists" promoted more for their looks than their musical chops don't quite cut the mustard, either.

Everyone has different tastes thank goodness. I may get blasted for this but I would rather hear Taylor Swift sing in a bucket than to hear Bob Dylan sing at all!!!! He is considered a legend but I think he can't sing at all. Write yes, sing no.:thumb:

I am not going to blast you. I think both Swift and Dylan are excellent song writers and both sound better in the studio than live. Yes, thank goodness for variety. I don't want to be pigeon holed into a certain genre.
