I could see that happening very easily these days. She may not have seen the bus run over the rabbit when it crossed the road or something. Sometimes, there is a logical explanation. Its very possible that a rabbits hindquarters would be ran over and it wouldn't die immediately. They probably were doing something crude, but there are alot of people out there that freak out over something innocent.
