Yes you need say more, LOL. I think Lincoln would have beaten WJ in the 12th region finals, but of course, we didn't make it to the finals. I do congratulate West for getting to the final four however. It has been a while since the 12th region has made it that far, hasn't it?

Lincoln County beat West Jessamine 66-49 in the regular season.

 

I don't know how or who picks the Coach of the Year and I don't put much stock in these kinds of things anyway.

 

West has done a great job of represeting the 12th Region. I think Coach Hammonds will take playing on Saturday in the Sweet Sixteen over being named Coach of the Year. I know for a fact that Coach Jackson would trade with him in that regard.

My only point was that a team that was picked pre-season 6th in their region and end up playing on Saturday morning at Rupp somebody must be doing something right.

Webb did a solid job at West Carter, but how Justin Moore didn't win coach of the year after the job he's done at Menifee is puzzling.

 

Moore did an incredible job with Menifee and Webb did an excellent job with West. Hampton had to be in the running also with a regional championship game under his belt. Congrats to all three of these coaches on bringing out the best of their players!

I had the pleasure of watching many of these players in the East/West All-Star game played at Transylvania University at 3 p.m. today, what a treat, with both teams scoring over 110 points each! Also, congratulations to Russ Middleton from Mason on being named MVP for the East team.

I think the Reason Coach Jeff Jackson was named coach of the year was because he lost 3 1,000 point scorers off last seasons team (they won the 12th region) and still managed to take his team to the semi-finals of a better than advertised 12th Region.

 

Also, The Lincoln County Boys won back to back 12th Region titles over the last two seasons and the 12th Region coach of the year was Robert Jones of McCreary Central. His teams did not manage to make it out of their district either season.

Feldhaus is a great coach. And he does a fine job at Madison Central. But how did he get coach of the year this year?

Not knocking Feldhaus, but it could be because many of the coaches in the 11th could not vote as their KABC memberships were not current.

I would've gave the 12th region award to Hammonds too. I think this Jackson's best coaching job since being at LC. He lost a lot of talent over the past two years, and still was a major contender for the region. West, McCreary and Lincoln were very competitive with one another. I thought West and McCreary had a lot more talent than Lincoln this year, and LC was able to hang with them.

 

I was glad to see West make a good run in the state tourney. I fully expect them and McCreary to battle it out for the region next year. Both will be very solid.

He is a great guy, great coach, and they won 11 ball games! With what they had and how young they were, that was a great year for them. Voted on by his peers and they must of agreed! Congrats Coach Honeycutt.

I am not sure why the KABC's POY and COY gets the credit by the KHSAA and in the state tournament program. So many of these coaches that vote do not even know anything about a lot of the coaches and players they are voting for. As an example: It makes no sense to think that coaches from the 16th region could make an accurate assesment of players and coaches in the 1st region. They would rarely see any of these team because of the distance between the schools. It makes much more sense to recognize the players and coaches selected by the region coaches. These are the people that scout them, prepare for them and play against them every week of the season.

These awards are voted on PRIOR to the post season.
