Eastern looked pretty good last night. I don't see them having a problem in making it to Saturday night, IMO. The only flaw that I saw in their game is that they do not shoot very good from the free throw line or at least last night they didn't. Long, tall, athletic and a very good point guard!

Eastern rebounds the ball very well and I think the margin last night was something like 49-28 at one point in the 4th quarter in favor of Eastern. They had 27 second chance points as well. Eastern is super quick and really plays under control in a half court set. Very impressed with Dowe and Thomas, although Thomas seemed to struggle at the line. Wouldn't be surprised to see this team playing Saturday morning.

Congratulations to Eastern. I don't think they were ever really challenged last night. The only game yesterday without too much drama.

I agree!

If you look at them during the season a lot of teams hang with them early and they just take over in the 2nd half. I'm not sure it would have mattered if the Corbin player had not gotten hurt but no one will ever know?

Ive been talking about how good Lou. Eastern has been all year. They are a great team with tons of athleticism and they are vey well-coached.

I was impressed with how well coached they were and also how under control and intelligently they play. I wish them the best of luck in the tourney.:thumb:

Eastern and Corbin were by far the two best teams in the top bracket. I think Corbin would have won the game if they could have continued to rebound like they did throughout the first half.

Good luck to Eastern!

Congrats on a great season to the Red Hounds!

Ditto, the scary thing about this team is that they are very young. Coach thought they were a year or 2 away from contending.

Eastern is a very good team. They'll be there Saturday night. If they run into slower paced team, they could run into some trouble. They continued to fire shot after shot last night that allowed Corbin to have a chance to get back into the contest.

I have to disagree with this statement. Corbin gave them all they wanted for 3 quarters. Corbin has a really good team but had the unfortunate luck of drawing a quicker and better team.

Corbin led by as much as eight points in the first half and was trailing by one in the third quarter with about five minutes remaining before Dowe got the four-point play.

You make a really good point about running away with it in the 2nd half. I did see a difference in the teams...especially on the glass.

I'm not sure that the result would have been any different either, but I do think that injuries hurt the Hounds. I can assure you that if Hendrickson and Smith had been 100% the rebounding margin would have been a little different and we would have probably seen a more competitive game in the second half.

At the end of the day...Eastern is hardcore. Even as Redhound I loved the way they battled on the boards (Almost reminded me of a Tom Izzo team). When you clean the glass like they do you don't have to shoot well from the outside.

Finally, I usually pull against teams from Louisville simply because I don't like the way they play. I may have to change this year. Good luck Saturday night.
