This is the 14th straight 44th District Championship for the Indians.

That is really one tough district. Out of those 14 straight championships how many Regions have they won just curious.

Madison Central has won the 11th Region three times. First in 1987, then 1999, and the last one in 2006.

 

In the last 14 years, they've won more regional titles than Bryan Station, Franklin County, Paul Dunbar, and Tates Creek. They've won the same number as Henry Clay and Lafayette.

 

Just because the district isn't great doesn't negate the overall success the Madison Central program has had.

What does the district strength have to do with the going to the state tournament? You still have to go through at least 2 really good teams to make it to the Sweet 16 in regional games. They can't help that geographically the other teams in the district are so weak...

 

And I am not an MC basketball apologist at all, I think they have underachieved in the 11th Region several times....but there is not one team that has dominated the region in some time. In fact the region has been represented by Scott County, Lexington Catholic, Henry Clay, Madison Central, and Lafayette since 2000 alone.

Madison Central would be at the top of the 16th year in and year out. Madison Southern would be in the upper half every season and every once in a while do quite well. You're making no point by pointing out that the 44th is weak...Central competes with the top teams in the 11th region year in and year out.

Point being those teams you mentioned in regional championships probably have not been to the regional for 14 straight years because they sometimes get beat out in the first round of districts. Example I think Bryan Station lost in opening round of their district (no regional) They beat Madison Central by 10.

No one said they would not. But a lot of 16th region teams would the 44th district playing those other 3 teams. Am not trying to stir anything up just stating a fact. For example in the 16th in baseball the 62nd district is one of the weakest in the state. That happens.

That was my whole point to start with at least they get a good check from the region those other years.

Well the 11th region is turning into its own league for prep schools. With all these teams "moving" into Scott Co., Lex Cath., Central and Southern should consider changing regions. It has been talked about for years, but I think they should be cause Central would usually be the favorite, and Southern would be in the top half of most regions.
