A district tournament is hosted by a school, but it is for the whole district. Bracken Co would be unfair "taking care of" their kids, without doing the same for all players in the district. Each district determines how many passes each team will receive. Each school can then allot those passes as they see fit. I would think that the AD's husband should certainly get a pass, as should the spouses of coaches.

 

I'm fine with giving all players passes if that is what the district chooses. The gate proceeds get divided amongst the schools in that district, so if each group of players get the same benefits, I have no problem with that.

I have a lifetime coaches card that I can get in ball games with but I never use it. I know that school needs my 5 dollars to pay expenses. Players, managers, score keepers should come first in getting those passes. I know when I was coaching , our Supt wanted 6 passes to the tournaments,one for himself and one for each board member whe never attended one of our games all year. That Supt was making 70,000 dollars a year and ask for a 5 dollar pass. I told him if I had an extra I'd give him one but none for the board members. Our Principal got a pass and took it to the Supt to keep him happy. To heck with these people. I agree 100% with the above, take care of those kids and if there's any left over then give it to people who it makes feel important to have a pass:ylsuper:.

Wow. I thought all players got passes without question. I didn't realize there would be any districts where this was an issue. I guess we learn something new everyday.

It just blows my mind that these Supt making over 100,000 demanding 5 dollar pass and little John who played b-team ball but is not on the varsity has to pay five dollars out of his pocket. Shame on these guys.:ylsuper:

I would also like to know how many passes a school gets. McCreary Central Girls Basketball was given 5 Hospitality Passes and One parking Pass. I'm sure the Boys team got more. The Girls Coaches Wife's did not get one.

In the 24th district each team boys and girls get 30 passes to take care of your team, coaches, managers, support staff, and family. Each Schools administrators pass is accepted

I would guess that stuff like this is deciding on in the draw/pre meeting. Not to say that the home team won't slide a few extras in the game. Hospitality room is a totally different animal.

You would think that a school with both a AD and a assitant AD that they could get something as simple as this right. It's something new everyday. :puke: :puke: :puke:

I had an extremely long rant typed out here and thought better of it.

 

I'll just say that it doesn't surprise me. As a member of the media, I had to pay $5 to cover the Mason-Augusta game after doing nearly every Mason County game, home or away, for the last two years.

 

Not even the media-hating BOKC wanted to take it that far. :lol:

I remember when I was coaching ,the local radio station(WFTM) was voted on at the district and regional meetings and granted passes. :ylsuper:

IMO media passes should always be accepted, as prep fans we are always looking for as much coverage in the papers, radio, internet etc. By charging the media members we are discouraging this coverage. Why would they come if you are going to charge them to work. I would hope that this is an isolated incident and not occuring around the state.

There is a certain area of our state that will not accept coaching cards. :sssh:

 

For coaches that do a lot of scouting, that's a bad thing, IMO. Sad, but true!
