I usually remain quiet, but this one caught my attention. I did some checking and found out that each school in the 39th district was issued 100 passes. One simple email provided the distribution of passes at BCHS. It was not a secret, but in fact, emailed to ball coaches and cheer coaches, at the very least, maybe more.

Boys Basketball: 15 players, 3 coaches, stats, book, manager, bus driver

Girls Basketball: 15 players, 3 coaches, stats, book, manager, bus driver

Cheerleaders: 19, 2 coaches, 1 bus driver

Announcer, Clock worker (worked boys and girls games at home)

Band: 14, 1 bus driver

Central Office Admin: 3 passes

High School Admin: 3 passes

Site Base members :5

Board Members: 5

1 HS Bookkeeper

 

Simple email is all it took to get the information requested. This thread has turned into something quite different, though. I don't think you really wanted the info, just wanted to bash your AD, whether info was accurate or not. Sad. Bracken County doesn't need outside enemies, it looks like to me. There are plenty to destroy it from within. That's the real sad part for the kids.

In my day some years ago the only ones who got a pass were the players on the tournament roster, cheerleaders, coaches, stat guys etc.., You had to have this pass to get to hopitality room. The JV players or JV cheerleaders were not given passes. The band ws not given passes, but they entered thru the backdoor on the so called honor system I guess. I do recall stories of others carrying in drums etc.. just to get in free. I do recall coaches giving some passes to some JV kids but I do not know where they came from. Maybe admin passes?

How much do they cost now and anyway that goes to the KHSAA. That is what I'm saying, the AD can order as many as he wants for a small fee. It's just not right. Schools have to meet expenses and what would they do if everybody had one. I went to a Fleming Co football game once and the lady selling tickets told me when showed her my coaches pass' does everyone in the state of Ky have one of these". I reached in my wallet and gave 5 bucks because I was embarrassed. She apologized but that didn't matter, I paid anyway and haven't used it since.

Quick question. Is the AD / Principal also the band director? Every night I attended the tournament, she was directing the band. Man she must be a busy lady.

So...assistants that make virtually no money for their position should have to pay to get into games? Team score keepers should have to pay to get in to keep the scorebook?

Maybe times have changed but assistant coaches and scorekeepers all travel together and don't need cards to get into the games. I didn't know they didn't pay assistants to coach now days. :confused:

They don't always travel together all the time. Additionally, many assistants scout games. Some do not get paid, others might as well not once their "pay" is taxed.

 

All assistants and support staff should receive a KHSAA card. Without them, the sport that they provide time for wouldn't exist, as it is.
