I'll go with Elliott by 13.

These young men have won 22 straight district games and 26 straight region games. They have also won 44 of the last 45 region games spanning the last three seasons. Remarkable!!! How can one pick against that??

 

Last District loss--Dec. 19th, 2006 to East Carter 58-57 (F Troop Soph year)

Last Region loss--Jan. 21, 2008 to Rose Hill in All A 62-55 (F Trp Jr. year)

Last Region loss before that--Feb. 20, 2007 @ Russell 66-56. (F Trp Soph year)

 

They have also won 7 straight District Tournament games. Last district tournament loss for the F Troop was their 8th grade year.

They were in the 10th Grade when that game was played.

BigSpikes--Pretty large margin there?? Must be trying to get some dialogue going?? The last 6 quarters that Elliott has played West they have only outscored them by a total of 12 points. I would think 12-18 points would be a safer pick?? But, one thing for sure, if it is lopsided it will only be in one team's favor. Elliott would have to be clicking on all cylinders, but they have had a few games were they have been. Tournament atmosphere and pretty full house makes the conditions tough to blow them out though.

 

That's how I feel, I don't think West has played very well since their game against Elliott in Olive Hill in the first part of January. Not trying to get any dialogue started I just think that people will be thinking this will be close-I just don't see it. Last year's West Team was a lot better than this years and they were handled by something like 30+ (?). I think it catches up to the Comets tonight in a big way.

I think West peaked about 4-6 weeks ago. Elliott by 20+. Also Ferg will have a big night becasue Dale's favorite official will not be doing this game.:ylsuper:

How would you approach this game if you were Coach Webb?

 

Would you:

 

a) bring everything you have in the district championship

 

b) save a few plays/tricks in hopes of getting to the bigger prize championship game

 

How would you all approach this game?

 

I would attack them right out of the gate on defense. Press them the length of the floor, attempt to create some turnovers and hope you can rattle their cages a little bit. Play fearless-not dirty-but play this game like this is your state title game. Not many people thought West could have gotten here in the pre-season-including myself-so try and prove them wrong.

 

I would let Ethan, Evan and Ferguson get their points, that will happen regardless. What you can't let happen is for Timmy have 17 points and 10 boards, you also can't Chris Knipp have wide open looks because he will knock them down.

 

None of West's players can over whelm you, but I think if you can create turnovers and stay out of foul trouble and you may have a shot. I still think it's a blowout, but if they want to have a chance at all. They need to do at least one of those.

I could be wrong, but I believe Elliott will try to make a statement out of this game that the previous close game was not indicative of their talent level. They will be running and gunning, as usual, and try to put this one away early.

I agree, I think that, and West has peaked this season and has taken a down-turn since the January meeting with EC at Harold Holbrook West.
