Kyle Hogue hit a short jump shot to put the Black Bears ahead by one with only five seconds to go.

 

Bell County inbounded the ball, but it was tipped out of bounds with around 0.7 seconds on the clock. Officials questionably placed five seconds back on the clock.

 

Bell County heaved a desperation shot from beyond half court, but missed.

I thought HC would win this one hard to beat the experience on the bench for the Bears. Bell never really got it going this year.

I don't believe there has ever been a 13th Region Tournament without a Harlan County team because Harlan County had its own district until after the 2005 season. Cawood went in 2006 and Cumberland in 2007 and 2008. Before that, we always had two teams.

 

And the streak will continue for at least one more year.

I agree, Jones has been in that situation a few times. I thought Bell Co. would win this one because they could match the Harlan Co. size and they have better outside shooting. The Harlan Co. kids play so hard on "D". HDE check I think they held Bell Co. to 0 points in he last 2:30 of the game. Big win for that young program.:thumb:

Dissapointing season for Bell. I will miss seeing Zachary play. Hes very good at 3 different sports! Congratulations to Harlan Co.

Robbins scored with 5:00 left to make it 49-41. Bell didn't score again.

 

Zachery is a great athlete, but he didn't have a great senior season in basketball. He was much better as a junior. I think Strange, Seidel, Crawford, Caldwell, Nick Smith, Josh Smith and Brown all had better seasons this year as seniors.

Here's a question, when is the last time a Mike Jones coached team did not make it to a 13th Region tournament?

Also, looks like the 13th Region tournament is almost set: Clay County/Jackson County (I suspect Clay should win easily), North Laurel, Corbin, South Laurel, Knox Central, Barbourville, Middlesboro, and Harlan County.

Interesting. Coach Jones is a great basketball coach he will make Harlan County into a 13th region contender soon.

Good win for Harlan Co. Very simply put you can't not miss Free Throws and win in the Tourney time. 1 Bell player missed 4 in a row at the end of the game. Harlan Co. hit their FT's and won the game.

I would say Coach Jones told those kids who they needed to foul and who they did not. I would say Coach Jones has watched Bell Co. play several times this season. Good win for that young program.
