St. Patrick 72 Mason County 39

Featured Replies

I am a Mason fan all the way,But im sure this was just a returned favor from the last 3 years,Where this group of young Lady Royals could have been learning and playing late in some of those 30+ point blowouts the big 3 stayed in till the end and paded those stats.

I agree with you, but do you think for 1 week you can be a St Pat fan now:ylsuper:?

I agree with you, but do you think for 1 week you can be a St Pat fan now:ylsuper:?

I wish the Lady Saints nothing but the best when they aren't playing MC.

St. Pat just had way more talent at all levels this year. I think that was evident in their jv and vasity match up in january as well as the fact that St. Pat freshman team won by 25. It's a new day in the district and maybe some people don't like it. As far as Coach Douglas being unsportsmanlike, that is absolutely ridiculous.

You obviously don't know her well. If you have followed the Lady Saints this season, you will know that they have palyed several games where they had a 20 point lead and by the end of the game they were scrambling to pull out a win. Coach douglas has learned not to take a lead for granted, especially in a game where emotions play a big part. There is a lot off the court with these girls, friendships, rivalries. A couple of the Lady Royals used to attend St. Patrick so there are former classmates on the court, as well. If you were at last nights game, you would have noticed that in the second half a 30 point lead was cut to a 20 point lead at one point. I'm sure Coach Douglas knew that anything could happen in this game, so she wasn't going to take any risks.

A 30+ loss to Mason County shouldn't be such a big deal, after all they have been dishing them out (boys and girls) to other teams for years. I guess some people see it differently when they are on the receiving end.

The bright point for the Lady Royals is that they all return next year, so this wasn't the end of anyone's high school career on their team. They all get another chance next year. And the Saints Seniors get to advance to the district finals and the region tournament to extend theirs.

Good Luck Lady Saints!

On the bolded, I agree. I turned in a scouting report from 2 games I watched them get a big lead in the 1st half and give it back in the 2nd half. I put weather the storm and they will give you a chance to get back into the game.

I heard Coach Douglas lament to her team about their inability to put teams away.

The Royals played only 7th and 8th graders in that freshman game.

Absolutely without a doubt Coach Buser ran the score up on people, leaving her starters into press till late in the game. Did it over and over and over.

I could be wrong but I do not think the 10th region coaches ever voted her coach of the year and I believe you could trace it to this.

I think that maybe the teams that Montgomery County has had over the past few years may have had just a little to do with this don't you think?

mhighfield-- I knew I liked you for more than a few reasons.::thumb:

I do know her very well. Running up the score on weak opponents does not change how well you teach basketball. Coach Douglas has some great players and they play really sound defensively. My comments have to do with what I call sportsmanship, not coaching skills.

My point about defense is that when you cause turnovers due to good defense you will end up with lots of fast breaks and thats what happened last night. Just look at the turn overs for the game. Coach Douglas shows more sportsmanship than a lot of coaches, and the facts don't lie about who has ran up the scores in this district (check previous post for the scores in case you missed them).

We appreciate the Mason County fans that realize St Pat just had a great night, and yes Mason has lots to look forward too, its rare that you return everyone in a varsity lineup. Should be lots of fun again next year.

D-UP, instead of letting the Lady Saints enjoy the victory you had to try and find a negative. Shame, shame, shame.:ohbrother:

Great job Lady Saints, and Lady Royals its turning into a great friendly rivalry that looks fun for years to come.

Congrats to the Lady Saints. Quit worrying about the score, Never known Mason Co to take their foot off the gas. The new Mason Head man will have the opprotunity to change that reputation. As for last night, St. Pat scored one for all the small schools playing the giant.

Well said Big Daddy Bear

Thank you

I think instead of talking about former coach's and current coach's we should talk about the game.

I thought the Lady Saints had a great game plan and followed through with it and played great. Mason Co. is young and not much experience at varsity level and will learn from this game and be right back in the thick of things next year.

Good luck tonight to both teams and may the best team win!:walk:

Are referring to the claim that Buser ran scores up or was never voted coach of the year in the 10th? Please explain.. thanks!

I think he was referring to why she never got 10th region coach of the year.
