Griffen was not himself, even before the TKO right before the half. 2pts and 3 boards in the 1st half. OU was trailing by 3 at the break.

 

This was a big win for the Horns, they were probably on the outside looking in, this win will go a long way for them come selection Sunday.

 

The loss probably cost OU a chance to get the number one overall seed. They still have a great record, but have played a weak schedule...

Blake picked up two fouls early and didn't play much in the first half.

I wouldn't want to see Texas in my pod on Selection Sunday. They have the talent to make a run. AJ can put 10 in a row on you before you can blink when he's on and James is a stud. Also some solid role players in Johnson, Pittman, Mason and now Balbay. Barnes made a few mistakes in handling the loss of DJ, but if they get it figured out the Horns are very dangerous in a tournament setting.

 

OU can learn a lot from this one. We'll see..

I agree w/ everything you say here. Barnes is not very great IMO. It's hard to say that b/c it is my belief that if you put yourself in a position to coach at a University like Texas that you had to do something right, but wow they underachieve. I look at them talent wise as top 10 this year. Results wise they are way below their talent level. To me they finish below their talent level a lot lately.

They have underachieved, but I think at least some of that is them being perpetually young because of early departures. No doubt he needs to get them to perform better in March, and this is a much more experienced group than he usually has in place...

But the bottom line is, Rick Barnes is still their head coach and I'm sure they have an earlier than expected exit waiting for them again this year.

Can't deny that. Will certainly be interesting to see how they do with lower expectations placed on them this season...
