One comment on the alleged over celebrating/cocky act or whatever one wants to call it. As long as a kid is not in the face of another kid (opposing player) trying to show him up or making gestures towards the opponets bench then I don't see anything wrong with it.............to a point. I don't like seeing this "chest thumping" / all about me and not team stuff from a player either (I hate that stuff and if a coach I would certainly deal with it) but imo hitting a shot and jumping up yelling or is not showoating, maybe just trying get his team fired up and playing harder.

JMO and I wasn't there so I cannot comment on this one individual player and what he did or didn't do.

I was not there either, but I do know Coach Kidwell and have for about 25 years. My first cousin is one of his guards and I promise you, it would not have been tolerated if a player was "showboating". I guess some people's definition of celebration vs excitement are thinner than others.:idunno:

Fist pumps in the air were noted not only by me but the entire group around me at this game both in the JV and Varsity game by the same player. I don't care what anyone else says...it happened several times. Maybe the Russell fans are used to it and think nothing of it. If so, so be it.

 

I will say that I very much enjoyed the play of Tanner Alexander from Russell and Patrick Cooper. Best of luck to Russell in their District.

Frankly, Russell didn't have anyone who made a whole lot of shots, so I don't know how many several could possibly be. Sounds like alot of sour grapes to me.

No, not sour grapes. Ashland won by a nice margin so no need for a bad taste. I won't be crass enough to name the player.

Personally, I like some showboating, it fires your team up, and gets in the head of the other team. I just don't understand why people get so worked up over kids getting excited about a game they love, I would be worried if they didn't get excited.

 

But, that is how I played and that is what I expect, I guess some prefer sitting on their hands and hoping something good happens. I guess some are more competitive then others.

Are you talking about fist pumps like Phil Mickelson or Tiger Woods use after a made putt ? I really don't think that would be considered poor taste. That , to me is the "excited" I was referring to.I would have thought a fist pump in a ball game would go almost unnoticed.

I would like to send out congratulations to the senior manager Tyler Hammond. This kid deserved the recognition he received last night. They work hard all year, out late just like the players etc.,so thanks Tyler for a job well done.

 

Yes, I couldn't agree more about Tyler Hammond! The pre-game ceremony for seniors was very nice. I understand a dinner was held for them later after the game. I would also like to commend the Ashland trainers on a job well done. Alot of kids who are not players give up their time to be a part of the team. Kudos to the Blazer staff!:jump:

You obviously have a strong dislike for this young man and it is something personal. I was in attendance for both the JV and Varsity games, and saw nothing at all that would be characterized by most fans as being cocky from any of the players for Russell.
