Does anyone have a map of KY divided up by regions? That would be interesting to look at.

 

I would like that to see that, too.

Did you read the earlier posts explaining why it was done the way it was?

 

The only other possible way -- without having a region with almost 30 teams -- is to split the 9th Region down the middle, with half the schools in one region and half in another, and filling it out with outlier schools like Gallatin, Grant, Williamstown, Pendleton, Bracken, etc. Pretty sure the 9th Region schools and their fans don't want that, and I doubt the schools I mentioned want to leave their respective regions (8th and 10th).

 

With an area of the state growing significantly and continuing to add schools (e.g. Cooper), the only option left to KHSAA is to continue spreading the areas covered by the regions?????? I wonder if there's a point in which other alternatives may need to be investigated at some point.

 

Instead of the Sweet 16 we may end up with a Sweet 20 :lol:

Scott Co. dominated the region in the 90s basically from the time Coach Hicks got there until 2000 and then went through a stretch where they weren't as strong. During the 4 years, including this one, Scott Co. has been in the 11th region they would be heavy 8th region favorites every year.

 

True, but you're taking 4 years and trying to make that the basis for an overall assessment. I'm looking at the body of work over three decades. And after Hicks came to Scott, Shelby and Oldham competed very favorably against him.

 

You can't simply say Scott County dominated one period, then dismiss the period when they didn't, and claim overall dominance.

 

I'm not taking anything away from Scott County; Hicks has a monster program. But Shelby and Oldham hardly shied away from it...
