Hester was much quicker and probably better defensively than Hatton at the same age. Hatton is probably a little thicker than Michael was at the same age. Hatton probably has a better outside shot and both have very good basketball IQ's at that age.

Allen's three was HUGE. And I agree HC will be a tough out in the first round of districts. They are tough at their home floor. The small court will work in their favor.

 

Just wondering, but wouldn't a bigger court work in their favor more against a team like Holmes since they are so big? With HC having such a small court it leaves less room for them to work against a quicker, athletic team which could hurt them if Holmes decides to press like they have recently.

Brandon Hatton. Should be an 8th grader, but either way he is very solid and will probably start varsity next year as an 8th grader. Hatton reminds me a lot of Mike Hester from few years ago.

 

Hatton's at Dixie now, but the question is for how long? Not saying it's true or not, but some think Dixie may just be a "pit stop" to get some varsity experience before moving to a different school. Very good possiblity he ends up wearing a different red and white uniform before it's all said and done....Hatton is originally from Covington...:sssh:

 

One can only hope. It would be nice to see him playing with McClendon. I've talked to Scotty Hatton about this a couple times a few years back and he was set on CovCath for his son then. Of course, this was before Henley took Holmes to the final 4 and the final. I can't speak for him, but I'd bet he is considering it.

Depends on whether or not he wants to play football and baseball as well or just focus on basketball. Dixie seems like a logical choice if he wants to play all 3.

Sure...I've mentioned time after time how foul trouble and a lack of depth could potentially hurt them in the long run against the state's top teams.

 

Against HC...I just really can't envision any disadvantages. Just my opinion...take it FWIW.

Hopefully he will be able to find his role for the Indians over the next 5 years. :notworthy:

He won't grow much more. Right now, I'd say he's around 5'9, 5'10, but I'd be very surprised if he got bigger than 6'0.

 

Either way, as you said, he'll still be a solid player but others his age will eventually catch up to his skill set by the time they're sophomore and juniors and physically matured.

 

IMO Pike has the most upside on Dixie's team. Trammel also looks like he won't grow much more but Pike could end up around 6'6, 6'7 by the time he's finished growing.

I was comparing him to Hester as far as peaking early goes...which is why I said by his soph and jr season other kids would start passing him up because they had finally physically matured.

 

Smith has been up and down this year. There's been games where he's scored in the mid teens, such as against Newport and St Henry where he had 14 and 16, respectively, but then there's also been games where he's really struggled. If he can become more consistent, he could be a nice weapon for Dixie.

The idea that the floor is some how smaller at HC or alot of the other small gyms in the area is not true. The floor is 84 feet just like most other HS gym floors in the state. You do not see 94 foot floors until you move to a college venue. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this to be correct.
