acemona Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Read the Quotes from the FEMA spokesperson How long after the Katrina debacle did the media wait to pounce on the Bush administration? Maybe those of us still without power can get $2000 cash cards! What is there to be vilified for?? There are still people without homes in Louisiana, this storm hit 5 days ago and has continued non-stop until yesterday and FEMA has already shipped hundreds of generators and they have people on the ground already. During Katrina there were several days warning before the storm even hit and the federal government was unable to respond appropriately and did not respond for appropriately for weeks, while people were stranded in the superdome. Reaching at its best

We got two inches of snow in Frankfort, and we were not the worst of it. so yeah, it was still going yesterday. Temperatures were so low here that salt was not helping so the roads stayed frozen AS A RESULT OF YESTERDAYS temperatures. So yeah, it was still going as of yesterday. Again, nothing to apologize for. Some people have been without power for 2 or three days, PEOPLE ARE STILL HOMELESS IN LOUISIANA. I don't think there is much of a comparison.
True blue (and gold) Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Can we wait and make this political AFTER the disaster is over? It seems misplaced to me at this time, when we have so many people that are in dire circumstances. Since we are all religious people here, maybe we can spend our time and energy praying for those of us that are worse off than we are and promise to pick up the debate when our emergency has passed. It's too fresh for me. I'm sorry.

FWIW, and I know you were agreeing with me bucket, but I did not mean to diminish the plight of those who are suffering now, nor to lessen the disaster that has beset the 11 of those who have lost their lives in this storm. I got caught up in the politics of the matter and forgot about the lives and that is poor on my part. This is a tragic situation and I hope for the best for all involved. Thanks for the reality check TB Edited February 1, 2009 by rockmom

If you're still homeless 4 years after Katrina, its not the government's fault. Buy yourself a mirror.
Henry521 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I feel for the people in Western Ky, and pray that electric and everything is up and running soon. However, as a Kentuckian, I don't want to ever be comparied to the victims of Katrina. They lost homes, we lost electric. We will still have a home and memories to come back to. We will be inconvenienced for a few weeks. Many from New Orleans losts everything forever. Kentuckians are strong and we take care of each other and we will get thru this.

Yeah, all those insurance companies reneging on their obligations. That was "my" fault. It is pretty easy to recover from losing 200,000.00. How about a little research on your part to find out why they are homeless instead of making a baseless assumption.

How about a little research on your part to find out why they are homeless instead of making a baseless assumption. If my house and all it's contents as well as my job disappeared tomorrow, I would not be a homeless person walking the street 4 years later waiting for the government to house me. Sure, it would be a significant financial set back but I would not be homeless. As far as it being my fault or somebody else's fault, that is irrelevent. If I hadn't taken action to correct the situation after 4 years, regardless of who was originally at fault, I have failed.

So you did the research to find out the causes, or again are you just making assumptions?
shooter Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 So you did the research to find out the causes, or again are you just making assumptions? If you read my last post you should have noticed that it is written in the first person. Therefore, what research do you think I need to do to tell you what I would do?
