Just read some post from 9th region posters and you can figure it out.

Holmes is good but not the greatest team ever.:sssh:

No, they are not close to the greatest team ever, they aren't even close to the best team in the country this year, but as of January 29th 2009 they are the best team in Kentucky. That is what people are looking at. They don't have to play Oak Hill, Findley, Chirst or any of the other top tier schools to bring home the hardwood. I am sure the goals from the coaching staff went like this, win the district, win the region, win state title, just like every other school in the state. I don't think any school in the state said "hey lets get nationally ranked this year or we didn't do our job." But when that comes it is a great accomplishment. Also, being the best team or the 50th best team in state of Kentucky right now doesn't even matter. Being first doesn't matter until the 8pm game is final on Sunday March 21st. But that doesn't mean toss jabs at them now because they are getting a little time in the national spotlight. Let them enjoy the recognition for the time being and we will settle the rest in March. :ylsuper:

I read the majority of the posts on here and I don't think anyone has anointed Holmes the greatest team ever. But if they keep doing what their doing, it is fair to start wondering (maybe hoping for some) that they prove to be worthy of consideration as one of the best ever.

If you look at some polls in KY Holmes is not #1.

We will soon see

Does anyone think that a player from Holmes could be a possible McDonalds All American within the next two years. Maybe Elijia or Rico?

I think that IF, IF Pittman continues to grow and get better as he has over the last year and a half he has a chance. He has unlimited potential, hard work in the classroom, on the tests (sat or act) and hard work on the court he is definately capable.

Yea, those are the polls I don't look at ha ha ha.

True, some polls actually have Elliott County number 1. Can you believe that? Just having fun with you.

I disagree, specifically with Findlay Prep. The players at Holmes are much more skilled than the players at Findlay. Now Findlay athletically is 2nd to none, but I think Holmes would give them a run for their money.

If you watched Findlay Prep play (which i did) then there is no way they would lose to Holmes. Yes Holmes is a good team and the best in KY but when it comes to playing a team that has 4 D-1 players in their starting lineup and a 6-11 center committed to UNLV coming off the bench they are out matched. Their is no comparison between the two teams, yes Holmes is a good team but doesnt stand a chance against Findlay Prep (ranked #1 or #4 in most polls in the nation)

Congrats to Holmes. :ylsuper:

I had the pleasure of seeing Holmes in the Laurel County Hoopfest against Largo, MD. They are solid and for real. IMHO, they are the best team I have seen in KY this season. I have not seen them all, but they are loaded!

However, IMHO, as solid as they are, they were not in the same league as Oak Hill, Christ School, Findlay Prep and New American. Those teams were unbelievable.

Well you have to think about those prep schools get players from all around the country. Holmes is made up from all home grown boys. I don't know if Holmes can beat those teams but I don't see them blowing Holmes out! IMO

Only polls that Holmes isn't ranked #1 in are the computer ones who use silly formulas to get their rankings.

They aren't ranked #1 in those polls because unlike some teams, they actually play stiff competition night in and night out and beat them by 10-20 rather than playing inferior competition and winning by 30 and 40 ppg.

Any knowledgable basketball fan knows this Holmes team is the best in the state right now. Again, their resume speaks for itself.

Nobody has said they were the greatest team ever. I don't see why some feel the need to tear them down anytime someone posts about them just because they're taking the spotlight away from their team.

Kentucky high school basketball fans should be proud that a fellow state team is ranked nationally because it will only bring more recognition to the state and other players as well.

I hope they dont lose until the State Tourney. I also hope they keep climbing in the Polls. So when they fall it will be a long way down.:thumb:

That's great...root for KIDS to fail. :thumb:

Pittman probably has the most potential to be an All American. He should dominate next year as a senior but has to continue to work hard as both a student and athlete.

Some scouts see him as the most talented player in the state, RIGHT NOW.
