We did a Catholic discussion a year ago June, and I just repeat myself, but I'm bible based and the word "Mass'" isn't in the Bible. Now a lot of things are not in the Bible, but the Mass y'all partake in is pretty important in your Faith and deals with your church and I believe its the way you worship, and thats fine.

 

Clyde, I can go as deep as you want, if you keep asking.

 

In Alabama I never saw a Catholic church and thats a lot of our problems. Its the way we are raised most of us attended the church our family went to. But I've studied the Bible.

As I understand it the Protestant version of communion is a remembrance of the meal Christ shared with His disciples at the Last Supper. Catholics believe that during the concecration it becomes the body and blood of Christ based on the instructions of Christ to his disciples during the Last Supper.

So, it is essentially the same thing except Protestants see it as symbols where Catholics feel the wine/juice really becomes the blood and the crackers/wafers really become the body.

Interesting. We certainly don't worship the mass, we worship at Mass. At a quick search, I found that the word "Mass" came from the Latin word "Missa", which I think means something along the line of "sent out". Someone with a background in Latin would know better than I would. Either way, I don't know how the word "mass" makes us anti-Bible.

It is wine (it has to be) and yes that is accurate.

Not really. I understand.

Don't know if it is or if it isn't and don't think it is really vital to know that.

We are both doing it in honor of Christ who gave of his life and of God who gave of His Son so that we all can have eternal life.

That is the important aspect of it.

 

Now, there is Scripture that indicates that if you are not of right mind, you should not partake. There have been times I have not partaken because that Scripture scares me and I am not quite sure what it is alluding to.

It is wine (it has to be) and yes that is accurate.

 

Difference there as ours has been grape juice, juicy juice but never wine.

As a teacher, I have lost many of students that left far too early. And it bothers me to my heart when that occurs.

I know yours were closer than that.
