Deming 47 Bishop Brossart 45

Recommended Posts

Have you paid attention to Deming at all this year? They were close to Brossart in their first game untill the middle of the fourth, and then Brossart pulled away. All of Brossart's fans knew this was going to be a tough game, and were apprehensive about it. Acting like Deming is a low class team makes the Mustangs look as if they didn't come to play, which I doubt happened.

The unfortunate part with this year's Mustangs is they don't have a big man right now, especially with Wolfer out, and if the shots aren't going down against a good team, they're succeptible to a loss...

Deming is a solid team, and I'm sure that if they pull it out tonight, they will completely appreciate the All A State and everything that goes into it, and that's what its all about. Try telling them its not a "real" state tournament.

Keep your heads up Mustangs, you didn't get this one, but there's still two more that you guys can get...

Yeah Ive paid attention. Have you personally seen them play? I have and my point is they havent been playing their best team ball. Too much is usually put on the King twins and they hadnt been getting their teammates involved. Obviously that happened in this game. Congrats to Deming and good luck to Brossart in the future.

This brings back memories of Bracken beating Brossart at CCMS. That was a good evening.

:fight::madman: Don't get me started on that game.

Congrats to Deming and good luck. All the underclassmen need to remember how this feels. Still more time to bring home the big prize though.

I enjoy seeing the underdogs win.:thumb:

Except of course in this Super Bowl where I hope the Steelers win.:dancingpa

Lest you forget, Deming beat Brossart one year ago in the Bracken County Holiday Tournament 56-54. These are primarily the same two teams a year older, wiser, more experienced, and the Mustangs without Stortz, Ridder, and Hertzenberg who all factored in the 2008 game, and Brian Wolfer, our only viable big man substitute, who is out with a broken foot.

There is nothing hilarious about it. When not self-destructive, Deming has the ability to be a quality basketball team. The King twins are blue-chippers and Grause gives them a nice presence in the paint.

IMO the difference in this game and the one back at BBHS earlier in the season was 1) the play of Caldwell and Mitchell who didn't succumb to the Mustangs defensive pressure as they have in the past 2) with Rieger and Kremer having to play defense conservatively in the second half and no Mustang big man available to come from off the bench, Kyle King's ability to take it to them, and 3)gambling and winning on the gamble of daring our perimeter shooters to fire away over the zone defense in the first three quarters. I personally felt that we were a 3-ball away from blowing open the game on a couple of occasions, but went 6 of 23 from beyond the arc, allowing the Devils to control the defensive boards (and often the offensive boards) keeping them in position to win the game.

We didn't get to where we are by overlooking people, and we certainly didn't overlook Deming. Listen to our opening comments on our broadcast and you will hear nothing but respect and apprehension about our match-up with Deming. We kniew it had the potential to be a heavyweight fight and it turned out to be just that.

Brossart has sort of become the POWERHOUSE of the 10th All A. Don't think people disrespect Brossart, it's just exciting when an underdog beats a powerhouse. Brossart has always represented the 10th well and has always appeared to be a 1st class act. Good luck to whoever represents the 10th this year.:thumb:
