Hummmmmmmm Reitz......... never had this talented a team. Code is a step up over Reitz but Code needs to let the kids have fun and play this great game. Quit over coaching and let the kids know its ok to make a mistake and let them play through them.

The top 7 or maybe 8 are solid but when Greg Geiman Started in place of Jordon Smith and took the opening shot of the game, a WIDE open 3 and missed it, he was then benched and I'm not sure if he returned. If your players are so afraid to fail and be taken out that they can't even play comfortably then as a coach you need to back off. The drill sergeant routine only goes so far sometimes you need some positive reinforcement, maybe a better play would be to tell him "hey your gonna make 8 out of 10 of those you'll get it next time" and you never know he may have caught fire and contributed 15 or 20 points for the team. For a player to know a coach has confidence in them means the world. Not just in basketball but in every sport. I know I'm preaching and I am in no way saying i could have done better.

Did you see the situation as it unfolded? The tip goes up and on Campbell's first possession, Clark County is essentially playing a 2 man zone. Zollo and one of the other Clark defenders are not guarding anyone ... just guarding the paint. You can't blame CC for subbing in a "shooting" guard in that situation? I don't think Geiman leaving the game within the first minute had anything to do with the shot that was taken. Geiman is more of a streaky/slashing type player who thrives in a faster type game. Since Clark wasn't pressuring like they did against Conner (due to missing some players no doubt), I'm sure that Coach Code wanted a better shooter in the game to try and draw Clark out of that type of defense.

In addition, when Campbell began to pull the ball out, do you think that maybe CC was surprised that Clark didn't come out to guard them? If you're Clark, you're gambling just as much by not coming out to guard. What if CC did get the last shot and that shot goes in? Then everyone would be all over Clark about allowing Campbell to hold the ball!

You're correct, no matter which way it went ,there's always going to be someone to blame on the losing end.

What about the '05-'06 "Dream Team" with White, Clines, etc.?? You remember, the middle school-freshman "Dynasty" that was going to rewrite the record books at CC?? This team has an extrememly good combo with Nerl & Albrecht, with Frazen and Jolly very good as well. Smith seems to have shown some promise at PG; but they seem to drop off significantly after that?

I think (I wasn't there) if Code was obviously slowing it down at the end of this game, it was simply to "shorten the game"; which good coaches do when trying to save some of their starter's energy for the finish (and to try and hide a weak bench)?

While its obvious some the Camel faithful aren't pleased with four straight nail biter losses, they were to Scott, Highlands and Boone (#'s 2, 3, and 4 in NKY) and arguably 10th region #1 GRC?????? A couple years ago you would have been praising your program's progress if you had played a close game with any of these guys; that's if you'd have even had them on those day's All "A" schedule??

It's his 2nd year as a head coach after taking over a program that went 32-59 in the previous three years against a very weak schedule for a 6-A school; I think you should be happy with what you've got, but then that may never be the case in Camelland??

That old schedule from that 6-A school must have gotten transferred to Brossart this season. The Camels are playing a tougher schedule this season and will be ready by tournament time.

GRC Nice win :thumb:

And Coach Code is obviously taking the heat for that??

PS: BB IS a 1-A school? I do agree this year's BB schedule is not as tough as it was a couple years ago and that CC will be fine come tourney time. :thumb:

Middle School doesn't count in High School. White was good! Clines can not be compared to the rest of the above players. I agree Code is better than Reitz however doesnt mean I have to like his style of play. Reitz never had a Nerl & Albrecht, with Frazen and Jolly! I am not defending Reitz, Code is a improvement.

We agree!!

Stickerman...leave Coach Reitz out of this, I would worry about your TEAM if I were you not what goes on in Camelland as you described it. Thank you.

Good win for GRC, especially playing shorthanded against a fine, well-coached Campbell team. Couple of close ones on their trip up north so far--Good luck vs. Scott tonight!!

I have to agree with ballerm. I have watched Coach Reitz and 10th Region Basketball for well over 20 years. CC did not have the talent today that it did during Reitz's time. You can bash Reitz if you like, but he did not win 500 games not knowing the game. Coach Code is a young knowledgable coach and will do well in years to come. He knows defense, and CC is better for it but there comes a time when you have to recognize the strengths of your players. I think we are overlooking our ability to score. I heard a principal say one time that a game lost by 5 or less is a coaching error. If that statement is true our coaching staff needs to take a strong look at what we are doing.

In no way have I ever bashed or belittled Coach Reitz--He's actually a really good guy, with a fine coaching history!! I simply asked of those in such a hurry to bash the defensive minded philosophy of Coach Code (a background which I might add they praised to the high heavens during last years' turnaround??); if they'd rather return to the more wide open style of previous years, and the results that system was providing??

I'm not a professional evaluator of Campbell County talent, year in year out; so I'll let you experts decide which year had better players; but I'd like to think somewhere among those 750 boys, and perpetual middle school and freshmen championship teams, there might be some players?? Simply put, Code and his system are getting better results; and just because they lost a few of very close games in the best part of their schedule, the naysayers come out of the woodwork calling for his head? I'm simply stating my opinion of the situation, which I believe is what these boards are all about??
