With about 1:30 to go at the end of the 2nd quarter (I believe it was the 2nd) Clark held for the last shot. That's a lot of time to go without playing, too. So don't point the finger too hard at the Camels for holding the ball with the score tied in the 4th. If Clark wants to wait and let Campbell have the last shot of the game, then that's on them. If Campbell wins the game, holding the ball becomes a great move. But since they lost, everyone wants to question it.

I agree...just hope we can get everyone back..except we know Pervis is out for the year....will just have to wait and see. Now being 100% by post season....not looking too good at this point.

It only makes for boring game and kids really don't get a chance shine. Why not get out and run the floor, if need be set up a offense that gets a shot off when shot is open. Not after 20 passes and a turnover. I never saw this game and glad I didn't. Sounds like this coach is over coaching.

Great move? When is not playing and not trying to score become a great move? Sounds like something UC did against UK under Tony Yates. Play the game and let the best team win! I can see holding the ball for a last shot with a min or so but not with 6 min left. Great move I think not!

Having "short memory syndrome" there aren't we Camel?? Might also have something to do with the caliber of the competition in those last few games?? Maybe you'd like to go back to the good 'ole wide open days of Coach Reitz and those 8-20, 10-15, 14-14 records??

Concerning the part in bold: You should have see some of the Cov Holy Cross games in the past, LOL. :lol:

 

GRC held the ball at top at the end of the 3rd, as Campbell Co was in a zone. The funny thing was a few Campbell fans/parents were yelling out "Just play the game" to GRC as they were holding the ball. Want to play the game then come out of a zone. The 4th qrt the shoe was on the other foot as Campbell Co was holding waiting for CRG to come out of the zone, which of course caused some GRC fans to sarcastically say the same thing to the Camels. Just an observation. :thumb:

 

On a side note: Im glad to see the Campbell Co parents just cheering on their team, unlike what I saw a few days ago when a parent (Not Campbell Co), was riding Vinny hard! The whole game! Not what I expected from a parent.

 

Back to the game: Enjoyed watching these two teams play!!

Never compared him to Reitz in anyway and I know he's a few steps up but he's obviously poorly managing games at the end if they have lost their last 4 in the same fashion. That's undeniable.

Why the slow down? Easy, coaches that rely on their starting 5 and do not use a bench need to "slow-down" during games to give rest on the floor. Teams that run, use 8-9 players, shuffling in and out to allow breathers and actually develop a "team" concept that just might come in handy in the post season. I wasn't at this game, but have heard on many occassions, Campbell County has no bench contribution at all. Are all the kids they dress that bad or is the coaching staff lacking willingness to give them a chance? Just curious.

If the Camels were holding the ball in the last 3 minutes I wouldn't have said one word about it being a bad decision but since it was with almost 7 to go and the camels only ended up scoring 2 points after this incident I can honestly say it could be the most ignorant thing I have ever seen. Whats the plan by doing this? Are you going to hold it for 7 minutes for a final shot? I mean really he had them hold the ball from 6:52 until 3:33. Its not the win or loss, its the timing if he had them hold the ball from the 3 minute mark until the end I could see a point but he didn't. He's a great DEFENSIVE minded coach but when it comes to running an offense he seems clueless. They have had a chance to win the last 4 games at the end and they haven't gotten one W out of it. It cant be the players execution because they're talented players and they would have to be able to pull one out of 4 out so it must be the strategy they are given.

The top 7 or maybe 8 are solid but when Greg Geiman Started in place of Jordon Smith and took the opening shot of the game, a WIDE open 3 and missed it, he was then benched and I'm not sure if he returned. If your players are so afraid to fail and be taken out that they can't even play comfortably then as a coach you need to back off. The drill sergeant routine only goes so far sometimes you need some positive reinforcement, maybe a better play would be to tell him "hey your gonna make 8 out of 10 of those you'll get it next time" and you never know he may have caught fire and contributed 15 or 20 points for the team. For a player to know a coach has confidence in them means the world. Not just in basketball but in every sport. I know I'm preaching and I am in no way saying i could have done better.

That was a parent from Conner...it was bad...you could hear it on the radio. Continued after the game too. Uncalled for an adult to treat a 16 year old that way. I feel that the AD/administration should have addressed the problem.

 

On holding the ball, sometimes it works out....other times it dosn't. I am sure that Campbells Coach had his reasons to hold the ball with so much time left on the clock, and we may never know those reasons.

BINGO, CC has too much talent to slow it down. Coaching should be done at practice, let the kids play.
