South Laurel 63 Madison Central 61

I think the Old Mastermind Roscoe will play a box and one or a inverted triangle and two or perhaps he can find a way to trapezoid Cody Miller. South will find a way to win. Coach Elam will no doubt solve a few problems from the earlier meeting against the Cards this time around. Is South playing Riverside Christian this year or is that a misprint on the schedule?

Nope I believe they had to drop out because they played in the LIT and didn't want to go over the limit of games played. They were going to have to play Seneca in the Riverside Christian Inv. anyway, so I guess they went to the LIT.

If Knox hit their free throws, they could have beat South last time.

True, Miller was off his game that night. Knox had to play zone which allowed South to bomb away from the outside. Is it just me or does South usually score in the paint or from behind the arc? I have not seen them show much of a midrange game this season. The dying art of the 12 foot bank shot. Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio?

Not as bad as the play of Matt St. John. The Indians didn't have an answer for him the entire game.

True, but if the Indians had shot better from the charity stripe they would have won despite the excellent job he did.

Does anyone have an answer for St. John? To beat South Laurel you kinda have to beat the rest of the team and let St. John get his, just slow him down a little, if you can.

Sounds good. No doubt, South is in the driver's seat. How do you see them playing Tuesday against Knox? This should be a good test for the Cards. If they do have their legs back?

South can have the title until dethroned in the tournament, but Corbin is in the driver's seat!

The one thing that would concern me if I was a Corbin fan would be the lack of schedule from now until district. With the exception of the South game at South, Corbins opponents have a combined record of 73-72 and that is including Middlesboro that is 13-1 and has played a very easy schedule to this point. I dont see Corbin being challenged but for 1 maybe 2 games most until the tournament. This usually comes back to bite teams more times than not.

Who's the guy who wrote this? ;)

Indians come up short at South Laurel, 63-61

CORBIN — Getting a win on the road in the South Laurel/Madison Central series isn’t easy.

So, when Allen Feldhaus saw that his Indians had a chance to win with a second left in regulation at South Laurel’s Field House Friday, he was hoping his team could take advantage of the situation.

But, they couldn’t.

Keshawn Simpson’s last second three-point heave fell short and South Laurel was able to escape with a 63-61 win.

Nice win for South Laurel over a good Madison Central team last night and I wanted to add that I do think Corbin is in the drivers seat as well.:thumb:

Always a hard place to go into and win. South Laurel is very good on their home court.

I got the answer to my question. This was a nice win for SL. I am sure that MC has a good basketball team as always.

This is a good win for the Cards. Just when they appear to be slipping they show their ability to beat good teams. Hopefully their bench scored more than they did against Seneca. Foul trouble really puts the Cards in a hard spot. They have not developed their younger kids.

Their bench scored three points, Tyler Huff's three points in the final 30 seconds that gave them a win, but both Huff and Wright played ALOT of minutes and played well because Zack Smith only played around nine minutes because if foul trouble.

Corbin may still be the region favorite, but South Laurel has served notice.

Where's the region being held at this year? I'm not real familiar with that region; do they always hold it in the same place?

It's at Bell this year, then North Laurel, Whitley and Haralan County.

Unless they decide to play in the expo center next year.

Someone told me they were 11th region officials.

They were 14th region officials. I know two of them. Tommy Hutton and Jeff Ritchie.
