January 16, 200917 yr I agree. The pilots did an excellent job. I can only think they had alot of angels with them today. :thumb::thumb:
January 16, 200917 yr Great decision and job by the pilot. That was the best possible situation to do and he did it to perfection. Absolutely!:thumb:

January 16, 200917 yr Why are the Canadian geese in Florida? Seriously, one of my friends from NYC asked me that last night...he says the last one he saw was in early December. Their migratory instincts are off?
January 16, 200917 yr I've flown about 40 times this past year and worried a few times about birds as the plane has left the runway.
January 16, 200917 yr This story continues to amaze me. Here is some more info about the pilot. The pilot has been named as Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III, a former fighter pilot with the US Air Force and 40-year veteran of the aviation industry, according to the web site of his consulting firm, Safety Reliability Methods. Mr Sullenberger's curriculum vitae states that he has been a pilot with US Airway since 1980. Before that he spent seven years flying F4 fighter jets with the US Air Force. January 16, 200917 yr My dad knows Sully personally; we lived near him in Danville, Ca; dad himself used to fly this exact plane and route out of LaGuardia for USAirways. He says that what Sully did with this plane is nothing short of astonishing; that only a former fighter pilot could have accomplished such a turn at such an angle at such a speed in such a short period of response; and that even most fighter pilots could not have gotten such an aircraft landed at such an angle that it did not at least spin som onto the wing and flip over. This event has made me hopeful; we say the world has turned from God, but inside that plane we have 150 people who all tell stories about people turning to God when they believed it was the end; it was the skill of that pilot and the temperament of that crew who saved those people, but it was the grace and temperament of God who gave that pilot and crew their skill. We are already hearing garbage like that its our own fault that these geese flew in the way because migratory patterns have been changed by overpopulation and climate change, and all kind sof other bunk coming out of this. You all just remember the stories of those passengers about what they were doing in what they thought was their final moments. That is what stays with me from this one.

Gives me goosebumps reading this. I am very impressed with all the good things that have been said about "Sully" and how wonderful of a job he did. Its nice to know there are people who really love their job and truly do all they can. He did what he had to do and that's all that matters. Very proud of him.
