If you take a look at some of the point differences in some of the scores against some of the smaller and weaker Class A schools that Ludlow has played you may understand my comment. Beating teams by margins of 40 plus points may help your scoring average, but at times has showed a lack of sportsmanship. This would not be referring to the players, but maybe the direction that they are given. To continue to press teams when up 30 and play starters deep into the 4 quarter just to hit a scoring averages and flex some muscle is what the reference is made towards.

 

I will stand by this comment though, Ron Dawn has always had his teams ready to play around tourney time, so yes I would give NCC the nod at this point to be the favorite to win the 9th Region A.

IMO Ludlow has a chance of beating NCC if Daughterty has an outstanding game.

 

The other post player at Ludlow is also very good.

 

I like NCC defense and guard play a little more. IMO If NCC presses it will be a big problem for Ludlow. NCC by 16.

I guess you are implying they didn't have one for the last 12 years? In that case winning over 200 games, 5 All "A" 9th region titles, 2 State Runner-up All A titles, and two 9th region regular titles among other things WITHOUT a coach is quite an accomplishment. Check back in 12 years and see if they can match these totals NOW that they have a COACH. This is by no means a knock on Ron Dawn, but when will some people at least acknowledge the accomplishment of the previous coach. ( YES, they did have one.)

I agree. I do not think you can argue with the success that coach McDonald had.

 

Coach Dawn also has had a huge amount of success with the boys. He will continue to have success with this team and with any future team. The man can flat out motivate.

Sorry, no sour grapes just giving the facts. A good number of games have been decided by 30 points or more, if you look at today's a paper 31 point spread shows unless there is a misprint, if so you may want to contact the Enquirer.

 

I can understand a game or two being that way, but when a number of games are deicded by those type of margins...... well you can form your own conclusion.

This year, Ludlow is pretty much head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in their conference and, for the most part, many of the teams in the All 'A'. You can't fault the Ludlow players and the coaching staff for having the talent and determination to develop into a dominant "Class A" team this year. Thirty point wins are pretty much inevitable when you are included in a conference with teams that are in the rebuilding process.

 

Also, I was at the game yesterday and personally witnessed Ludlow's JV playing most of the fourth quarter. With so much on the line, I can't imagine any coach risking a game by putting the JV in even a little too soon. However, as is pretty much the standard, when the fourth quarter rolled around, the JV did make their appearance and stayed for the remainder of the game.

49-23 after 3 quarters, I guess it makes sense to play your starters into the 4th quarter?? 1) I would think a 26 point comeback looked to be likely??, 2) why chance getting your better players getting hurt and not being more liberal with subbing to keep everyone fresh for the upcoming games??, 3) when the other team decides to admit defeat and play some less experienced players, let keep shooting those 3's and trapping the ball. While I did not stay for the end of the game last night, this has been the procedure in the past.

 

So I guess I am missing the point and it is just "sour grapes" as you have stated, but if you do not find the conference that you are in a challange and feel that Ludlow is building a more competitive team than do what other teams in the 9th have done and petition to move to the Division II conference?? Teams such as Holy Cross and St. Henry were at one time a Division III school and seem to be doing just fine now.

 

Again, may not know much, but just a suggestion.
