If Holmes played their starters the whole game and Holy Cross didn't try to slow the game down, I think it'd be a very good possiblity. They were up by as many as 27 last year before pulling the starters, and IMO Holmes is better this year with HC returning practically the same exact team, minus their best player.

Holy Cross would never try to run with Holmes because they wouldn't have a chance so you can't even look at that possibility. Holy Cross plays a slower style because of their defense and they work the ball around for a good shot most of the time. Also, just to comment on HC having practically the same team, one year varsity experience does make a difference just to throw that out there.

They put 22 up against BB and 30 something up against Ryle because they wanted to take the air out of the ball and maximize the few chances they took. They hoped that it would frustrate the opponent into bad shots. It worked against Ryle. It didn't against BB.

 

This team is very limited offensively so they take the air out and then play a zone to slow it down every more. Smart move by the coach.

If they play good D, slow the game down and take Holmes out of their style, and hit some shots outside they have a fighting chance. If they play Holmes' style, they will lose by 30

You may be right, but I think the style will affect this group without the leadership of Henderson. They have already been T'd up a few times. Last year that wouldn't have happened. They will also get lazy on D.

IMO making the other team guard for longer periods of time and working the ball around until you get a good shot and capitalizing when you get those shots is a pretty good offense. I would take that over forcing up bad shots and trying to play one on one any day of the week. Last time I checked there was no rule that said you have to score a bunch of points to be a good team.:thumb:
