This has become a new hobby of mine over the past year or so, and I'm surprised at how much I enjoy it, really. I thought I might start up a thread for this for others to share their pics. I'll be adding some here in a few minutes.

I was visiting family in Iowa last week for Christmas, and in all the years I've been going there, I had no idea that a mess of bald eagles winter along the Mississippi River, fishing in spots where the river and backwater hasn't frozen over. Just a fascinating sight. I'm thinking about getting together with a buddy, gathering up some additional equipment, and making a photo weekend out of it.

 

The lighting was really dreary, which made for difficult photography.

This is shot from the docks in Davenport, Iowa, looking across the Mississippi at Rock Island, Ill., and the Rock Island Arsenal. What really makes it neat, IMO, is the other eagles perched in the trees off in the distance.

Managed to catch these guys in formation …

As close to a bear as I was able to get in the Smokies.

This one was in captivity in Ober Gatlinburg, thankfully.

I love to take nature photographs too. Most of mine are in print form; but I do have a few here on the computer to post. Here's one from an ice storm we had a few years ago.
