Mason Co 69 Scott 48

I would hope that either a)the mono thing is just a rumor or b)that the MC coach is not that thick-headed to play a kid who MIGHT be pretty sick.

I doubt he would have been cleared from the Dr. if he had mono, that's pretty doubtful IMO

The demise of Mason County has been greatly exaggerated. That is all.

Today's games at NKU should be very good.

It is going to be a great weekend in NKY for HS BB fans

I'm a little surprised already. They're coming together well. This group of sophomores are going to be scary good in 2 years.

8th Region last week, 10th tonight.

Just got back from the game myself. Scott can play, but missing the front end of 1 and 1's will not help you when Mason County scores two off of those misses. Sueprised that Coach Carr doesn't have them shooting FT's even now.

Very impressed with Middleton, Downing and Setty for Mason. The second half belonged to Middleton. If not for the early foul trouble, it may have made it worse. Murray, Hiller for Scott and Keylo Jones off the bench also looked good. "Kola" to me really wasn't a factor in this one. He will have to become more of a presence as the season goes on.

I'm working up the game audio and pictures from the game. You know where to go to get it all. If not, PM me.

Good game for 3 1/2 quarters. Middleton was the difference in the game. He does everything for Mason. Scores, rebounds, handles the basketball. Scott tried to limit his touches and he still found a way to be the difference maker.

Missed free throws and layup opportunities cost Scott early and turnovers late allowed Mason to open up the game. Scott allowed way, way too many offensive rebounds.

Mason and Scott are both very physical teams. Downing is a very good player for Mason but limited tonight because of foul trouble. Was impressed with Smith for Scott, very active offensively and defensively. Except for one two minute stretch late handled Mason's pressure well. Made some very nice passes tonight. Thats why young PG give coaches gray hairs!

Murray needs to shoot the ball a little more for Scott and 'Kola needs to be more active offensively. Whole team needs to rebound better. Would not be surprised if game stats show Murray, Hiller and Smith as leading rebounders.

Scotts guards do a nice job defensively and Mason Co is a very good defensive team in the half court. They do a very good job on the cutters and are very physical in their press. Even if they don't generate turnovers early from the press they can wear you down and make things tough in the 4th quarter.

Pawsett is an absolute beast on the defensive end of the floor. He can guard multiple positions. Setty is very smooth offensively. Hamm does all of the little things and knocks down open shots. Nice weapon off of the bench.

Gilbert gave them some nice minutes off of the bench. Another good young PG. Very quick and can knock down the open shot. Had a couple turnovers but overall very impressed with him and Smith as soph PG's. Should be fun matchups over the next couple of years with those two.

Game went about as I anticipated with two very physical teams. I thought it would be a game of runs with Mason pulling away at the end with their depth.

Scott had some questionable calls that took place through the stretch of the game. I think Scott’s point guard as said above choked or “Gave Coach Carr grey hairs” and really hurt them towards the end of the game, contributing to a 10+ run for the royals. Kolla also wasn’t very impressive last night and doesn’t look like the same player he was last year... It should be interesting to see how this eagle team turns out.

This game was a learning experience for players and Coach Carr alike. I don't think the players choked, they became physically and mentally exhausted. Once again Carr refused to utilize his bench to allow the starters to rest. They came within five and then were down by 15. Rest was allowed too little too late.

Wow....."choked". Thats a nice choice of words directed at a player. So if a player busts his butt for you for 3 1/2 quarters but then makes a couple of mistakes towards the end of the game he has "choked"?

Maybe if Scott makes a couple of free throws in the first half and converts a few of the lay ups that same player gave them the opportunity by with nice feeds then they don't have to try and force the ball somewhere late in the game.

When you go 17-31 from the free throw line and give up double digit offensive rebounds there is a whole lot of blame to go around.

Yeah but they will get a lot better as Russ has been very under the weather all year so far as he gets healthy and this team gels with chemistry they will be a very tough out.

Maybe it was a bit harsh, but you said it yourself above..

The Free throw shooting wasnt the best I do agree.

Mason Co played poorly .No way this team wins the tenth region.Sloppy passing, poor three point shooting.Once they decided to play in the fourth quarter the Eagles didn't answer the challenge. You kind of had the feeling Mason Co only plays when they have to.Eagles will be plucked by the Crusaders today by 25.
