Just a question but how many boards has Jackson totaled so far this year? (I really don't know which is why I'm asking.)

 

I'm sure the competition he played against at Rose Hill his frosh and Soph years had a lot to do with that statement considering you don't see many 6'4 guards in the 16th region...

BTW, for the few of you who think SC has all of these advantages such as rebounding, how many of you have actually seen Holmes play this year? I've personally seen SC against Ballard and Duncanville so I'd like to think I can atleast give a fair assessment with all of my comments regarding the game at hand.

I doubt kwl saw him at Rose Hill so I'd guess that one won't hold water. Let's put it this way,,,,,I'd get a body on him.

I had the pleasure of watching Mr. Jackson both of those seasons. Granted, there aren't many 6' 4" guards in the 16th, or any other regions of the state for that matter. There were and are however, many 6' 4" and bigger forwards and centers he was and is rebounding over. Add to this the fact that both Jackson and Euton averaged over 10 rpg last season when about half of RH's schedule was against non-region opponents and your point weakens.

 

I understand you're a Holmes homer... and that's fine, but don't water down your good points by sticking to this one. Jackson will prove you wrong. :thumb:

My point was playing in the 16th region there was probably nobody who could match Jackson's athleticism. It was actually a compliment.

I'll admit I'm a Holmes homer when it comes to BASKETBALL since I have a family member on the coaching staff, but I have actually seen SC so I think my analysis for each team carries a little merit and it's not just me being a homer. If you re-read my breakdown for the game, you'll see I give a lot of credit to BOTH teams.

THE Kentucky team that beats Scott County is going to have at least two deep 3 point threats, a big man in the middle, probally play a lot of zone, get Scott County to take quick shots while they are

patient on offense and make Scott County chase them on defense,

they will have to be able to play "smarter" than Scott County.

Im going to take Scott County in a fast-paced, physical game. Scott County by 7.

Ricardo and Riley both shoot the three well. Pittman 6'7 with a seven foot wing span can also shoot the three and plays good defense in the middle. IMO it s not going to take a zone to beat SC, it's going to take great on the ball D" and block out. There is no team in the state that can keep SC off the glass while playing a zone.

I haven't posted one negative word about Holmes or a Holmes player. I have yet to see them play with the addiditon of the two Johnson boys and Housley, so I decline to field this one other than to say, "I look forward to seeing a great game Sunday." :thumb:

So you don't think any of the SC players have a weakness in their game? I stated both their strengths and weaknesses. I see nothing negative about that.

 

But I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree in our assessment of each team. Like you said, it's a good thing the coaches and players will settle it sunday and then possibly again in March.

I don't know which team to pick, as I haven't seen Scott County this season. I have seen Holmes, admittedly in their first game and in a game where I feel they didn't play anywhere near as good as they should have, so I'm hesitant to go with them after what I saw. But I feel like Holmes can pull it out, as long as Riley has a big game like he is capable of shooting wise. Hopefully Holmes depth doesn't hurt them. Holmes by 6.

Scott County 84 -61 over Holmes. Holmes hasn't proven that they can replace the leadership they lost. Never mistake a talented bunch of kids for a team. A team is a whole lot more than just talented athletes. Holmes could make another state tourney run by March but right now Elloitt County may be the 2nd best team in the state. Holmes has to find their identity, then look for them to roll.

Scott Co only beat Tates Creek by 5. What makes you think they'll roll over Holmes by 23? I doubt very seriously anyone in the state is capable of beating Holmes by 20. If it happens this sunday, I'll gladly eat crow.
