No Wonder X and T Dominate!

Featured Replies

Thats not what I was talking about. The numbers of kids in the Boone County school system was higher than what the schools were built for. They needed another school to accomodate the kids.

So, there's no way to build onto existing schools?

Anyone that thinks numbers are not a part of the formula, is fooling themselves.

Exactly, because a large number of the football players are sent there for football. The other students just want a good education....:D

I would only change a single word in the bolded statement. Substitute attract for make. There is no question, the top football players from all over Louisville make their way the the doorsteps of X and T. And why not? The best programs attract great players. By the time these great players get to X and T, all the coaches have to do is refine them, not remake them.

Then how do you explain in recent memory: KJ Black, Doug Beaumont, McKinney, Justin Green, Mister Cobble, Ridge Wilson, .....I can go on and on. Trinity and X do not get more top athletes than any other school.

You have never, obviously, attended Trinity or X.

Not in every case, no. I'd also say that the school district viewed the rising population and figured it would be best to build a new school. For example, I know Simon Kenton had a massive change a few years ago and by the time it was finished the number of students had already surpassed what the addition was built to serve. There have been talks about building a new high school in Kenton County as well.

This is an honest question, because it is something I heard from a person from X. Is it true that if you go to T or X that you have to take part in some club or athletics team?

Grayson County, at one point, outgrew their school. They built a larger school to accommodate all the students. I know that it's not feasible in a county with as large a population as you describe, but I can't honestly believe that so MANY new schools are needed.

IMO, this thread is nothing but an attempt to belittle Trinity and St. X's championships. Who cares if they've got a large number of boys at the school? St. X and Trinity MAKE more ATHLETES then anyone else... That's why they are so successful. Not because they have 52352345 boys that attend their schools.

Here we go with the cloning and genetic enhancement topic again. Don't leave out the living on campus too, just getting it all out in the open.

Well they've filled them all up so I don't really understand what there is not to believe.

I still think they'd have the same number of championships that they have now. Which is that the original poster was targeting to begin with.

I don't. Well unless of course being an athlete became a requirement, rather than just something that is preferred or smiled upon.

It's not required, but it's highly encouraged. Most kids there are involved in a sport, club, intramurals, or other extracurricular activity. Trinity, in particular, does a fantastic job of creating clubs for kids with common interests. For instance, a rock climbing club was formed when the staff were approached by the students with interest. In addition, there is the House system, which all students are a part of, and there are competitions between houses in all sorts of various activities, from intramurals to raising money for Dare to Care. Student involvement is very important.

Of course, if you build only schools that will accommodate 1000 students (for instance), and you have two schools with 1500 from which you take 500 each, of course they're all full. I'm talking about building schools that will accommodate growth or allow for expansion.

Thats kind of how I figured it went, encouraged but not required. I knew that they had many more clubs and groups than we did, noticed that from the banners hanging in the gymnasium when we were waiting to go out on the field.

Well with the Kenton County district, the schools were built many years ago. They have made or are making expansions to all of the high schools, but you can only add on so much. If the population continues to grow at the rate it is then there will be no other option but to build a new school.

Then how do you explain the growing numbers at T&X AND their traditions of excellent academics? Relative to your theory, they should not consistently achieve excellence in academics because they continue to grow in enrollment.

I think T and X may be a bit better funded than the likes of Boone County.
