Good opening season win for the Lions. They play Greenup County tonight.

Seniors Jonathan Ferguson (25 points), Evan Faulkner (20 points) and Ethan Faulkner (15 points) combined for 60 points and Timmy Knipp scored 14 for the Lions.

Timmy Knipp had a ton of blocked shots and made good decisions with the ball. He plyed with a lot more heart and intensity. Looks like he grew up a lot over the summer. This will only add a new dimension to Elliott County's already loaded team.

Jared is a great kid from a terrific family.

 

As good as he shoots the big orange ball, he can do some pretty amazing things with the little white one. He will certainly have an advantage on MSUs home course... :lol:

It was sure nice to see all the guys stepping up to make

our team the best in the region.

I thought Elliott looked very relaxed on the home opener. I think the scoring indicates a very well rounded and solid team. They sure are fun to watch. It was a very fun game to watch as the struggling cougers were just out played for 32 minutes. Congrats to the Lions!!!!

T. Knipp had two thundering dunks. One in the set offense where he ran off a pick on the baseline and got a lob from Ethan Faulkner. The other on a fast break with a meeting at the basket with a Morgan player.

 

He is more agressive on the inside with several blocks and changing shots. T. Knipp is the key to how far Elliott will go. His continued improvement will only make Elliott better. We all know the consistency & sterling play we get with the Faulkner twins and Ferg, but T. Knipp has plenty of room to grow and improve over the next few months. The continued improvement of the bench will be key #2. The bench so far is ahead of schedule with some quality minutes.

One other note. Many noticed I did not comment on the first thread that was closed. I didn't think any comments were necessary with the direction of the thread. Holmes, Elliott County, and Scott County are all good teams. Elliott could lose to a 16th region team. Elliott could get beat in the district. So could a lot of other teams. Nothing is for sure in life but death and taxes.

And you are absolutely right Elliott could beat beaten by a number of teams in 16th in certain situations.
