Lee Co led the whole way but had way too many turnovers (20), mostly throwing the ball away on the same inbounds play underneath Buckhorn's basket. Buckhorn is scrappy and well coached. When Charles began bringing the ball down the floor in the 4th they broke the trap easily.

 

Pelfrey led all scorers with 26 and 12 boards, Charles 16,10 assists, 8 boards, Wise 9, Pittman 5 and 5 boards, Reece 4. Andy Blank had 22. Caldwell had around 15 for the 'horn too. Charles sat early in foul trouble. Wise fouled out. Pelfrey had 4.

 

Blank fouled out with 15 seconds to go. Caldwell fould out in the fourth.

 

Lee had around 15 blocked shots, almost every one called for a foul. Between the to's and the fouls, it was not a pretty game.

Good opening win for Lee County. I thought it would be around an 8 to 12 margin. Buckhorn always has scrappy teams.

Final was 66-60. Good ball game. I thought Pelfrey was definitely the difference, though.

Also, Buckhorn had 4 guys foul out late in the game and had a couple of their freshmen in foul trouble, throughout. I definitely thought there were alot of fouls called and most were good calls, as far as I could tell. Both teams were a little sloppy offensively.

Lee scored easily once they got the ball down the floor. It was the turnovers (picked off passes) under Buckhorn's basket that led to easy conversions. Coach Wright did a good job of adjusting his inbounds play in the 4th. That particular turn over situation should be an easy fix in practice.

 

Otherwise I'm pretty sure that Lee dominated in every catagory. Pelfrey was unstoppable under the basket, Charles penetrated well and dished, everyone rebounded well.

 

Not taking anything away from the 'horn, they are well coached and scrappy, and Blank is tough.

Pelfrey is legitimately one of the best big-men in the 14th region. I am very impressed with him and Aaron Charles,two very good basketball players.

I was impressed by Buckhorn, they play real tough and are well coached. Pelfrey is probably most improved player in 14th. Doesn't even look like same kid out there. Lee must get turnovers under control.

Solid- 5 points 5 rebounds, a couple of blocks. He is a young sophomore and is still learning his role on the team.

 

Coach Wright went with a smaller line up last night, starting Derek Childers at the point and rotated Pittman in and out throughout the game. Reece came off of the bench with some good minutes too.

 

I really like Pittman's game, and I think that he will have a big impact on this team and the 14th region.

Campbell hit a three and some free throws and played good d. Tyler usually scores several from offensive rebounds and put backs. Tonight, Pelfrey wiped the glass and didn't leave much for Tyler lol.

 

Pelfrey had 12 boards, Charles had 8, Campbell and Pittman had several but not sure of the count. And this was against a pretty big Buckhorn squad.

 

A good learning experience for both teams.
