November 29, 200817 yr I've got an expiring discount on a new phone, which I need. My old phone, which I like, has been having problems, and will die soon. I'm with AT&T. I'm thinking about one of the combo phone/PDAs, most notably the Samsung Blackjack or the Blackberry. Any quickie recommendations?

Just remember that with a BlackBerry you need to have an additionaly BlackBerry package that runs around $30 extra a month. More than worth it for me...

November 29, 200817 yr I've got the Samsung Blackjack and really like it. I just got the new version last week, in an upgrade. Tremendous amount of features, buttons easy to text and display is clear. Only fault, is very slick finish.

Message display and phone calls, in one area and easy to scroll through. Had the scrolling button, which is easy. Best phone I've had, both versions. Here is the Blackjack II, which is what I have. I wouldn't pay that much money for a phone if I wasn't going to use those features. At one time you couldn't text or even do simple web surfing without paying for the BlackBerry package. You'd have to ask a sales associate now, because I'm not for sure anymore. I worked in cell phones for awhile and try to keep up. For a smartphone it doesn't get any better than a BlackBerry for me, but if you aren't going to use it as such, then I wouldn't get one.
November 29, 200817 yr Author If this helps, I would mostly be using the phone for simple phone features. Secondary usage would be as a PDA -- when I say that, mean strictly as a personal organizer. I would likely not use it much for e-mail or web browsing, at least not initially. I would use it for some texting.

November 29, 200817 yr You don't need the Blackberry package.. I got mine for free, and have no BB package and use it like a regular phone.. You can also just get internet for 5 bucks..

You don't need any type of package for any of the PDA phones through Cingular. If you don't have a package, internet usage is outrageous though and with the make of the PDA phones, it's very easy to accidentally push a button while it's in your pocket and access the internet. If you don't want to pay for the internet, have cingular disable the internet feature on your sim card. If you do that, you wont have any problems.
November 29, 200817 yr Forgive me, but what does "pushed" mean in the context you are using?When someone sends you an e-mail it is automatically "pushed" to your phone like your normal e-mail inbox.
