Question for CovCath supporters that went to the Johnson Central game

How do JC and Highlands match up? Who will win? Why?

I would like this to be only for CCH supporters who went to the JC game. If someone wants to start another thread or add their comments in the prediction thread that is fine, but please let the CCH fans that went to the game answer this one.

Looks like they are still meandering up I75.

I'm home. =]

Highlands is the better team. JC has a good running game, but they also faced a VERY weak CCH defense. We haven't been able to stop the run at all this year. Highlands defense will put JC's running game in its place IMO. JC has a few speedy kids, but Highlands is ALL speed. If HHS is smart they will pass pass pass, because even tonight CCH has open recievers, they just didn't catch the ball, or a couple of times were a bit overthrown. If JC is forced to pass they are in trouble, and honestly you can't beat a team like Highlands without passing.

I for one will be happy with HHS putting JC back down to reality, because I think they might be overconfident in themselves, and they need to be brought back to reality.

Good luck though!

I think Highlands wins and wins in convincing fashion for several reasons:

1. Highlands offensive speed will cause JC fits in the secondary. Guidugli should be able to pick the secondary apart with the athletic, speedy receivers that the Birds have. Many times in tonight's game, CCH receivers were WIDE open but unable to hang on to the ball when it was thrown to them. I just really don't see Highlands receivers making the same mistakes.

2. Highlands is very physical up front on both sides of the ball. JC is as good as advertised offensively with their Colerain like offense, but a lot of their success was because CCH had 9 in the box and once JC got past the first level it was off to the races since the safety was rolled over to defend a receiver. Highlands hasn't been known to get beat off the ball and unless JC gets to the outside like they did against CCH, they are stopped for little to no gain.

3. If Guidugli is flushed out of the pocket the way Isler was tonight on several times, JC doesn't have the team speed defensively to keep him from picking up a big chunk of yardage by tucking it and running.

4. Highlands should have no problem running the ball. It's no secret that CCH isn't exactly a "speed" team but there were several times tonight where the CCH rb's were able to break away, only to be tackled from behind. Against a team like Highlands who will have Crawford, Fennell, and Conner running the ball, who all have great speed, I really don't think that JC will be able to catch them from taking it the distance like they did against CCH.

5. Balance. Johnson Central truly is ONE DIMENSIONAL. With no passing game, they won't be able to beat the Birds. The one pass they did attempt against CCH was intercepted.

Last but not least, SPEED. Highlands has way too much team speed on both sides of the ball for JC to really contend with. JC has a few speedy kids but none have the break away speed that will be needed against the Birds.

This is coming from a Highlands fan who was at the JC game supporting CCH and a very good friend's son playing his last game.

Sounds like someone is a little bitter.

I believe Guru asked for this thread to be for CC fans only and their impressions. :thumb:

I am not bitter at all. It is now basketball season for me! =]

I think JC won it fair and square. But I think they will be WAY overmatched against Highlands, and a reality check is on their way. They have not played even CLOSE to the competition of Highlands.

Highlands by 3 or 4 TD'S

JC is a one dimensional team and Highlands tackles well

The only thing that may affect them is the long ride down
