November 21, 200817 yr The article stated that WVU didn't sell thousands of tickets for last years BCS game and that's a team with a rabid fanbase. If they make the OB, it shouldn't be as bad since it would be within a days drive.
November 22, 200817 yr I'm pretty sure every major conference splits their bowl earnings.... I think all of the conferences split it up, even the non-BCS schools.
November 24, 200817 yr I really get a little concerned when college football people start talking about money in the grand scheme of things. Im not so naive as to not know how important money is to college programs, but is is an amatuer sport, whether you agree with that or not. Those left over tickets that the universities didnt sell for their bowl games, why not give them to the players to sell? If they werent playing in the game, a lot of them wouldnt be able to afford to go. I know this is a moot point because such things will never be allowed by the NCAA. Everybody makes money, and get rich in some cases, except the ones doing the work....I thought we outlawed slavery! Iknow, I know, they are getting an education but, Im sure they would rather have their share of the multi-millions they generate and they could pay their way themselves. I know a lot of people will jump on this and disagree, which is their right, but I think back to a Final Four a few years back and they were interviewing one of the players in a mall where one of HIS jerseys with HIS name on it was for sale and he didnt have enough money to buy one if he wanted it. There's got to be something wrong with that situation. Should college athletes be paid? I dont know the solution but its something that should be looked at!!
